Title: Hi from Canberra
Post by: mjg on September 29, 2016, 01:20:51 AM
Hi, I'm Matt, from Canberra (Australia).

I got into pedal building this year, started out as I was too cheap to buy a pre-made distortion pedal for my kid, and went from there.  Had fun building my way through some schematics from runoffgrove.com earlier in the year, and more recently found 1776effects, and from there this forum.  Have also found diyguitarpedals.com.au recently, hooray, and Australian source for stuff.

I'm trying to get all my pedal builds written up on a blog somewhere - will put it in my signature once it is ready.  :)

Next big project is to build a bass guitar from scratch.  I've done furniture before, but I think a guitar may be a bit more of a challenge.  It may end up being a very pretty doorstop.  Or even a very ugly doorstop.  Anything is possible.

Hi Matt, I am from South Gippsland, Victoria. Nice to have another fellow Aussie along to the forum.
I think a lot of us started this hobby to save money on some pedal or other and got sucked into the hobby (addiction). It's a lot of fun.
Good luck with the guitar, I have done a few partscasters before but nothing from scratch. All the best.

I'm currently in Gippsland but I've been in Ballarat for the last 20 years.  Been in Melbourne mostly this year, back to Melbourne this weekend.

There's a few others here.  Off the top of my head Chromosphere (sorry dude, dobbed you in again) is in Melbourne too.

That's funny.  When Aldi sells the basic OD, Distortion, Metal, Flanger, Chorus, and Delay for $30 each, there's no economy to building your own - but you've probably worked that out.  Making your own is a lot more fun, plus you get to build exactly what floats your boat.
