My brother, my best friend, the guitar to my bass died yesterday at age 42. He was on a low carb diet and died while working out. They said he wasn't eating enough carbs to keep his heart pumping. He and I started playing guitar about 35 years ago and then I switched to bass. He and I played a show together for only the second time on New Years, the first being when we were kids in a band together. This is truly the day the music died.

I have no words to express how much I grief for you and your family.

That is horrible. I've had a few acquaintances die in the last year, and even that is heartbreaking. I can't imagine losing somebody that close. My condolences to you and your family on getting through this!

Over the next few days, I will have to go clean out his apartment in addition to the funeral on Monday. So bummed to see this, I lost an old friend a few days ago, not much older. Still stunned. I wish you peace and many happy memories in the days ahead.
This a is terrible loss, Jimi. Keep strong. But I know from experience that as strong as you are you will need the support of family and friends. I hope you have a good network around you to keep you moving forward.

I'm so sorry Jimi, there are no words. Praying that the Lord gives you consolation, peace and strength, in an impossible time.
I learned yesterday that the artery that goes in to the heart was 99% blocked and that's why his heart stopped immediately. They call that the widow maker, if anyone was standing next to him, it still would have been too late. He used to drink death wish coffee and sometimes energy drinks before working out and that only perpetuated it. He was Buddhist and never went to doctors, he always chose a more natural approach. That's why even he didn't know he very well could have had high blood pressure.
If you guys want to take a peek in to the kind of person he was, check out Seansdays.com He was a very talented writer and musician. I found out that he wrote almost everyday and has volumes and volumes of stuff he'd written. We have three sisters and I found out that each of us knew a different side of him, it has really been an enlightening sort of feeling.

Glancing through his website, he looked healthy and way too young to go. It really hits home because he's about the same age as me. Not only that, I've done low carb dieting many times, and while I know it wasn't necessarily the diet that caused this, it's still scary. The chances of them even catching a clogged artery like that at his age is probably rare.
Just another reminder that life is precious and can be taken away at any moment.
