Title: Order of buffer, dirt, gate, volume...
Post by: Willybomb on May 26, 2017, 11:46:14 PM
Gudday all.

I have a project underway with a None More Black, a one knob gate, and because I heard the gate works well with a buffer in front of it, a klon buffer.  I've built the gate before without said buffer and it works well anyway, but I daresay all the pedals I had in front of it had buffers anyway.

Sooo, I'm planning on this:

NMB -> buffer -> gate -> NMB volume.

The gate will be switchable in/out, but the whole thing (dirt, buffer, gate) will be switched out from the NMB switch.

I'm thinking that a gate would be better before the NMB volume as it's going to me more set and forget there.  If I place it after the volume then the noise level will fluctuate with the volume settings.

Any opinions on this?  It will be easy enough to test I guess.
