Ok, I'm going to be honest. I only built this because I wanted to use the reverse centaur graphic. It came up in a thread about somebody on TGP (Outlaw), thus the Outlaw themed pot labels and "winch", which is a running TGP joke.
The board is an old layout I had in the bin of random boards. I wasn't planning on boxing it, but it was there, so I put it in this box.

Now I really want to finish Kim Un Unicorn, the klon im building for the sweet graphic. :) lovely as always!
Well that's disturbing looking.
Haha. I appreciate the honest pedal naming. You're as honest as the overdrive itself!
That's hilarious. The worst of both worlds. Damned fine build though (as usual) and a definite double take for anyone sniffing around your board.
Awesome! :o
100% worth it.
Holy sh#t! This is so amazing and I am certain this will be imitated by many, including myself. So good!
hilarious! love it!
Love it well done. Where did you source those knobs?
love the graphics and how you wired the stereo pot!
This is so wierd. Why does it still has a pair of horse legs? In my mind reversed centaur would be a man with a horse head
Love it anyway:D

Yep, it's definitely not as anatomically correct as a normal reverse Centaur. ;-)
It actually has 4 legs and 2 arms, which makes it extra awesome, IMHO. It's such an absurd graphic, I just couldn't resist.

Noted. Printing etch graphic now.
HA! It's greatness lies in the fact that it is so disturbing!
I obviously haven't been on TGP much lately bc I used to know all the inside jokes...I think I'm ok w this.
The Human Centaurpede as it were.

Sure the graphic is a little weird. But it's also quite funny.

I think that'll be version II.
I love how the human legs are just completely useless.

And their relative position in the graphic suggests they are well aware of it, too.
I seen this while I was out on my cell phone.. I have looked at it 3 more times since then and it makes me laugh so hard.. my wife is wondering whats wrong with me. I love this.
Don't worry. We like your reverse centaur, but this is pretty funny:

Yeah, it made me chuckle, too.
In a strange turn of events, Outlaw posted pics on TGP and now a bunch of people want one. I guess I'm going to do a small batch of them.
That's not very surprising, honestly. But...I mean...c'mon. Do the Reverse Centaur.

They WANT the Reverse Centaur, not a normal Klone build. Outlaw labeling and all.
They SAY they want one. My inner cynic would argue, until they forked over cash.

That's always a risk. I always ask for a firm commitment, a real name and email before I start. I don't accept deposits. So far, I've not had a single person flake out on me. It'll happen at some point, but I'd rather risk that than risk messing up my reputation. I have too many things going on, so I'm not all that fast. People are significantly more patient when you aren't holding their money.
Love it! You should have covered the board in epoxy before posting your pics though, someone is going to copy it! :)

A reverse engineered reverse engineered Centaur? That could be interesting, biologically speaking.

Outlaw (the user that inspired this) made numerous references to the importance of winches in multiple threads and it became a running joke associated with him. Just a bit of silly and fun nonsense.
Awesome, if slightly disturbing!

True. That should be right up your alley, John. Usually I think that of your builds ;)
So, I ended up doing a small run of these. I've been posting progress pics at TGP, but I figured I'd share them here. There's a bunch, so I'll do it in multiple posts.
My initial build used a really old layout that I did. It needed to be updated, so that's what I did. I also added a switch board to clean up the wiring a bit.
This enclosure is etched, but the contrast with the trans gold is absolutely terrible. You can see it from some angles, but it totally disappears from other angles.
Initial test fit was a bit tight, so I had to tweak the drill layout. Easy fix, at least.
Next, drilling the box with the tiny hole saws. I haven't used my step bit since buying them, and I have a pretty nice Klein step bit.
Time to backfill the etch with ink. I do this under a microscope with a syringe and an extra fine 30 gauge tip. Here is what it looks like partially inked.
Here it is fully inked. Much better looking

You were so close to making the board centaur-shaped.
Time to start building the boards. Here they are partially built and displayed on a sturdy piece of anti-static foam.

Here's the first verification build. Fits just fine.
And they are multiplying:

Testing time. I'm trying to give Cody a run on awesome basement carpeting, but I know I fell short.
This is the only proper way to test a Reverse Centaur. Five of them on in a row (it sounds terrible, btw).
I think that's it. I've started shipping them off and await responses from everybody.

Ha! I didn't even think of that.
That chain is so centauripede creepy.... :o
Wow -- only now just going through this thread. Seriously awesome stuff. Love it.
Where are you putting these up for sale? Interested... ;D
still pretty much the best pedal related joke I've ever seen. Coupled with execution and functionality this is a winner for sure!
Just realized one thing: did you wire it for true bypass? If not, why would you use 3PDT stomps? don't tell me it's because of the reverse engineering..

I wasn't originally planning on making any for sale nor did I do any advertising. Folks contacted me directly.

I'm only using 2/3 of the switch. I could've left the left-most column unsoldered but that would've destroyed my psyche from an OCD standpoint.
That's awesome man. I've sold so many, it's just nuts. I kept building them for myself and folks just kept asking about them. Generally I don't build for sale purposes, but everyone is still snowed by the unobtanium factor.

I see. I still prefer 2PDT switches for click feeling and sturdiness. It's funny how many of us have (light) OCD when it comes to pedal guts. I think this is part of the reason for all the clean builds these days
Will there ever be a satirical pedal graphic I like more than this one?
Doubt it.

While I'm pleased with the results, it's admittedly not my favorite process.
Late to the party on this. Funniest pedal graphic I remember ever seeing. Then, the build quality is over the top, then making a production run out of it. The ink process is so impressive. I can't believe they are so consistent. I think you may have just made something highly collectible. Would that be ironic?
I bet that one with the black knobs sounds darker than the ones with oxblood knobs. ;)
These are truly excellent.
