Open Discussion / Re: Designing for parts?
October 08, 2020, 06:35:16 PM
I just had a npn and a pnp germanium mk11 Tone Bender set up last night to compare and dare I say it they should sound almost identical to my ear.
Gain and leakage being far more important.
That's my experience anyways

I too am having problems calibrating my MOW Dlx.
In saying that I have never successfully built and calibrated an analog delay.
Have tried Aquaboy, total recall and MAW dlx and have not been able to calibrate and get any of them to work.
I have built every other complicated build with success (polychorus, infinitephase, Ada flanger etc.)
Why I can't build an analog delay successfully has got me beat (I don't have access to an oscilloscope either)
Anyway I will keep watching this thread and start troubleshooting my Man o war dlx build as well. Good luck with yours!

Global Annoucements / Re: UberTuber Deluxe and VFE update

I have a Nudrive pedal I built from pedalpcb that I like quite a bit.
It came with a seperate pcb to mount the nutube with SIP sockets attaching it.
I like the idea so the nutube can be socketed and tried with different projects without buying a new one every time. It is an expensive part.

General Questions / Re: Naughty fish
May 30, 2018, 07:24:51 AM
I'm not sure if you are aware that there are actually 2 types of on/on/on dpdt switch with different pin designations.
The naughty fish Is for the type that small bear sells NOT the type that Tayda sells.
Confusing I know.

I'm interested if you are getting some (or have some)
Thanks

Open Discussion / Re: Tayda recently?

I just measured a whole bunch of resistors I received yesterday all values were labelled correctly. I also noticed there 6.35mm, pcb mount potentiometers seemed to be slightly better quality than usual, they turn a bit easier than they usually do and they have recently started selling some more unusual values (c5k etc).
Also extremely fast express shipping (2 days to rural Australia).
So yeah my most recent Tayda experience was actually a good one!
Wonders never cease.

Fantastic work, looks great!
I too would love the opportunity to have a crack at building one myself.

Very badass!  Is that cherry wood?
No some very old pieces of pine, not like the modern 'radiata' pine they sell here in Australia these days. Really nice old wood, finished with tru oil.

Build Reports / Dimension C plus more
October 12, 2017, 07:13:57 PM
So I built the Blueshift chorus (dimension C) a couple of months ago and thought it sounded pretty good in mono. I only owned 1 tube amp, bir after constantly hearing that the pedal really shines in stereo I decided it was time to build my first amp.
So here is my newly built 5e3 to go with the blueshift and yes stereo is where this pedal really shines

Have you made any progress with the debugging of your build Brian?
Just in case you read this, thanks.
I have been really enjoying these VFE builds.

I have also bought bulk amounts of currently used jacks etc. from Mouser.
I also like to have the battery option (understandably unpopular these days for environmental reasons)
So yeah, I am pretty happy with the current design also, my vote would be to do both if possible.
I understand that can make the ordering trickier as well.
Thanks for asking though, 1 of the things I love about Madbean pedals is that Brian always asks for our opinions on these things.
Great work.

I have only been able to get these at mouser unfortunately.
Free shipping if you spend over 60 dollars to my country though (Australia)
It is also the quickest shipping time I have experienced.
Sorry I can't be of more help. My first VFE build I had to troubleshoot for days till I read the fine print and realised the jacks I got from Small Bear were not 'sleeve mated'.
Always pays to read the whole build doc!

1 choral reef ordered! UK electronic has the mn3008 also for European folk, fair international shipping too.
