Even better - if so, let me know!

Good pull! The shot of the back of the PCB is a bit cut off, but I'll still see if I can figure out a working PCB diagram from these pics over the weekend.

I've been on an SS preamp tear and, in my "travels," came across this tweedy, late '90s sleeper practice amp. No schematics found just yet, but the circuit looks simple enough from what I can gather - just a handful of resistors and caps, a couple TL072s, a plastic switched input, and an amp IC (possibly a TDA2030?) with a big honking heat sink. (The IEC on the back does suggest it takes bipolar power, as is fairly common in the preamp world.) Anyone familiar with this thing? It's out of production, but sounds great. Is anyone willing/able to trace it? If so, I'll happily hack together a PCB and/or vero layout.

Hey I'm building one of these right now, are you still having trouble figuring out the wiring scheme?

Pardon the delayed response! I never really figured the wiring out and have moved to an apartment that is... imperfect for futzing with/figuring out electronics (i.e. I can use the kitchen table when my partner is out of town, but have no dedicated desk atm). That said, the wiring really is the only thing stopping me from finishing this as well. If Strategy posts some gut shots, I'll be as curious as you are.

Addendum: I did post an attempt at a wiring diagram at DIY Stompboxes, and it seems to have been approved by at least one member. The link: https://www.diystompboxes.com/smfforum/index.php?topic=128677.msg1240517#msg1240517

Build Reports / Re: DEADfx Eat the Rich distortion build
November 26, 2022, 09:52:21 PM
I'm on a bit of a Sunn pre thing lately, but most DIY projects circle around the Beta Lead & Model T. This is the only Concert Lead kit/PCB I've come across; however, (Dead)FX seems to have discontinued the kit and doesn't appear to be returning e-mails about it. Is anyone aware of another DIY project based on this amp's preamp? (I'm also interested in leads re: the Coliseum bass pre, if there are any around.)

This is so cool. I'm a little bummed to be on the sidelines for the time being but hoping I can pull something off eventually

Same! I lost room for my electronics desk when I moved in January, but have been psyched to watch this project bear fruit from the sidelines.

What Gov't Lacky said - FV-1 projects are basically impossible right now.

Open Discussion / Re: Anyone build a Maestro Ring Mod?

Hey ryland/Strategy: I figured out the PSU! However, the wiring for the board itself is confusing the heck out of me - I'm bad at reading schematics even in the best of times, and this one (particularly the mod section) is eating my brain. Any chance you could shed some light?

The schematic:

The PCB layout:

I think I have the input, voltage pads, and test points figured out, but the rest - output, jack pads for J2-4 (which the instructions recommend jumpering), switches, and pots - seems to be escaping me; I don't understand how the pitch, mod, and carrier jacks connect to the PCB, which in turn renders everything else incomprehensible. (The fact that my secondary reference, Dirtbox Layouts, includes a modulation switch not otherwise repped on the schematic doesn't help.) Any advice (or even just a few gut shots) would be beyond appreciated. My suspicion is that there was once a wiring diagram, but it disappeared when Topopiccione shut down his site...

My silence is directly proportional to my industry: I'm about to move to a place with no logical bench space, so I've built something like 25 pedals (!) in the last month. Plan to finish my last one (the GGG Maestro Ring Mod) tomorrow or Thursday & post a few faves here in the coming weeks.

Hi Storyboardist! I'm finishing up this build, but want to skip the stomp in lieu of a simple on/off rocker for the +9v. (I plan on using this as a studio tool.) Do I need to account for/jumper any of the stomp pads at the bottom of the PCB? They're numbered, so I'm not 100% sure what each pad does.

Hi Strategy - I'm building this in the next couple weeks. Any chance you could post the power supply? I was considering doing a modified MFOS wall wart supply, but I'd love something that's already been built/tested.

Interesting! I look forward to hearing how power amp #2 plays out. For my part, I may just bite the large enclosure bullet & build PaulInTheLab's power amp on vero:

https://paulinthelab.blogspot.com/2012/05/tda2030-based-amplifier-veroboard.html?m=1

Seems straightforward enough, & I have a handful of TDA2030s onhand...

I'm literally building this exact Paladin/TPA3118 amp in the next few weeks - just waiting on an enclosure from Tayda - so I'm subscribing to this thread.

OK, glad to hear my initial impulse was correct. Is it "Sitting Still Talking About Jets"?
