Build Reports / Re: The craziest and BIGGEST pedal I have ever made.

crazy and big for sure. Well, as the others said, this is epic beyond words.

any pics of the spaghetti interiors after wiring? (just to make us feel a little better perhaps? :D )

Haha. It started out super clean considering the insane amount of wiring. But then it spiraled out of control just a bit...

Never again!

But turned out awesome. Modded pds20/20 and fuzz circuit in massive metal tabletop enclosure. All arcade buttons light up too.

Well those are really off the charts with clever ideas.

How is the relief on the metal faceplate of the crap-fi made?  Is that etching?

Thanks guys. Yes, that plate was reverse etched

next up, is a crap-fi delay with modulation built into an old wooden voltmeter box.  Also has a hidden light up arcade button for momentary osc that I modded the old battery compartment to hold.

First up is a modded and rehoused pds1700. In a massive 1550G (but the board is so big it was still tight height-wise. Standard power jack, upgraded switching, added waveshape controls via key spst switches, external master time to get super weird and optional LDR control over this.  Super fun pedal and probably my cleanest rehouse.

If anyone has an extra chip I would gladly take it off your hand$$.

I have an extra. The ones I bought were a three pack so I have a spare :)

do the vu meters work?

I wish...any clue how to make them move?

holy smokes this is awesome. And I like the way you wrapped wire around the threaded plastic parts ;)

Thanks man.  Actually, the whole thing is metal.  It weighs a ton.

And a gut shot.  Lot and lots of wiring.

Moodring with some mods, plfo modulation, and mask audio small format drive fuzz.

Any worry about the tiny chip in the LED spitting noise into the circuit ? I ran into this with one of the color cycling LEDs a while back.

Same here. I got one of those crazy rainbow cycling LEDs and it put out a ton of noise in the audio spectrum. Glad to hear the flickering ones aren't noisy.

I hear no added noise at all.

Good! My question is this: can you change the flicker rate by altering the input current? This would technically be changing depth and speed at the same time. I'm just curious if the little IC inside is affected by a change in input current. Probably it's pretty stable down to very low current and then just stops working (which would make sense for its intended application in a battery-powered "candle")

Also, your inbox is fully, homie.  ;D

Whoops. Just deleted some stuff. Also, regarding the depth/speed I didn't try this because I liked how it sounded right away, BUT, according to a spec sheet I saw which showed some curves this should work.

General Questions / Mandroid troubleshooting question
« on: January 12, 2018, 12:07:24 PM »
I built a second mandroid. It sounds great, even better than the first I think. Everything functions as it should except the splode switch. It literally does nothing. It is not the switch. The function is just ramping no the warp pot right? So I can just tie pot legs together to get the effect. But I am just curious what would make the spot on the board not work. A couple of my ic voltages are off based on the build doc. First my ic 2 pin one voltage is negative instead of positive.

Honestly I like how it sounds now and tying the splode to the warp pot works fine. I am just curious what is going on.

Build Reports / Dual delay featuring the smallest modulation circuit ever
« on: January 11, 2018, 02:30:13 PM »
I did some work for jptrfx and he sent me one of his fernweh boards. It is a dual delay. I did some fun mods to it in the process of building. One was a baby modulation circuit. It uses only three components! A candle flicker led, a drop down resistor, and a photoresistor. And it works! And I dig it.

I forgot to take a full gut shot before I buttoned it up. So just imagine the most beautiful wiring job ever, but know that It's not that.
