General Questions / Quick Zendrive Clone Question
May 08, 2017, 02:38:47 PM
Hey guys, I'm building my first perfboard pedal and have decided to go with the Zendrive clone on tagboard effects however there's a couple of small things I'm unsure about.

http://tagboardeffects.blogspot.co.uk/2012/01/hermida-zendrive.html

Firstly, according to the picture above I have to wire take a wire from the board to lugs 1 & 2 on the voice pot and another to lugs 1 & 2 on the tone pot. What is the best way to go about this? Should I solder two wires into the individual hole on the board or is it better to run one wire from the board to the pot and just bridge the lugs there?

My second question is about the capacitors that I received in the kit that I bought from the following link:

https://www.bitsbox.co.uk/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=280_281&products_id=2048&zenid=fng64o47g6vbrj9ghqtcb91mf2

One of the 470nF capacitors is polyester film and the other is polybox but the layout doesn't specify which one goes where so I've put them in as follows:

Does it matter which goes where, and if so have I got them the right way around?

Thanks in advance folks!

Thanks for having a look!

I'll double check/try them the other way round. It was super hard to see any markings on the casing since they had worn off so you could be right.

Hey guys, I'm having some issues with the Fuzz War clone that I'm trying to build. I've done my best to follow along with the debugging guidelines so here goes:

Problem: Guitar signal appears to be passing through the circuit however it is not fuzzy/distorted. It's a perfectly clean signal that gets louder when twisting volume and drive pot and brighter/warmer when fiddling with the tone pot. I've tried with and without wiring it up to the daughterboard because at first I thought I had perhaps just been using dodgy crocodile clips or had a wire going to the wrong place when testing the circuit originally.

I've double checked and the components all seem to be in the right place and orientation (I could be wrong) and I dont think there is any solder bridges as I can't see any and I've scratched between as many solders as is possible due to pcb mounted pots so I'm totally stumped as to what the problem might be (note: I'm a total noob at this. It's only my second pedal).

Hopefully one of you guys will be able to tell me what's up but if any more info about the build is needed, let me know and I'll do my best to provide it. I'm also pretty new here so let me know if I've broken any rules and I'll sort that too :)

Thanks alot!
