Another plug for Taylor,
I got a used Taylor 214ce a few months ago. I LOVE it! It's got a laminate body but the neck is awesome and it sounds great. I paid $600 bucks for it.

If I had the extra money I would immediately buy a 314 or 414. At the 300 level and above you get solid wood construction and the fretboard is a bit wider, which I prefer. You also get the Taylor Expression System electronics, if you go electric. The 214 has a piezo pup.
I've heard great things about Guitar Rodeo as a Taylor seller. They offer better prices than they can show on their website. www.guitarrodeo.com

My newest is this MIM FSR Ash Tele. Never had a Telecaster before. I love this thing!

On a semi-related note, I've been wondering "what else can I build besides pedals?" Anybody build other useful electronic gadgets?

To paraphrase...

"In comes in fridges? I'm getting one!"

Most refrigerators run around 35 degrees Fahrenheit. But this one goes down to 11.

"Penalty Box" would have to have a timed relay that resulted in massive tone suck for 2 minutes when engaged.

Excellent. During the penalty, the other guitar player can stomp on his/her "Power Play" boost.

Go Leafs Go

er...

2 minutes for roughing.    ;)
Maybe we can design a pedal called "The Penalty Box". We could design a whole line of hockey pedals.

Build Reports / Pork Barrel - Hockey style
March 20, 2012, 03:44:12 PM
This is kind of silly, but I like it. I had these Buffalo Sabres removable tattoos lying around. So when I built my new Pork Barrel, I made it in homage to my favorite hockey team.

I love this version of the PB chorus alot. I like it much better than the prior one I had built (prior Madbean version), which had all the mods.

I havent had the same exact experience  But I did recently get a DRRI. I love it but found that I don't like the sound of many of the overdrive pedals that I had liked a lot with my Blues Jr. I find the tubescreamer type pedals too harsh unless I really mess with the eq. Im not sure why some pedals interact differently with this amp  .

Ultimately I was pleasantly surprised how great Madbean's Rump Roast sounds with the DRRI.

Huh, those must be new. I don't recall seeing those, or more likely, I just flat out missed them. Those do look cool though. A black and gold pedal would look killer with those.

Yes. Small Bear has a few new additions as of 2/28: http://www.smallbearelec.com/Categories.bok?category=NEW+ADDITIONS%21+-+As+Of+2%2F28%2F12

I like those gold chicken heads at Banzai too... Shiny.

I just found these at Smallbear. They are perfect for my current project. I thought I'd share as I think these are pretty cool.

Open Discussion / Re: Amp mods - Fender Blues Jr.

I just sold my Blues Jr. But I had done most of the BillM mods, which I thought really improved the amp. The power supply capacitors improved the bass. I really liked the presence control.

I also swapped the speaker for a Hellatone G12H30 Celestion.

Probably the best "mod" I did was replacing the tubes with Torres Blues Forver tube set. http://torresengineering.stores.yahoo.net/bfobljrfe.html
Using the 12AY7 preamp tube gve me more clean headroom, which is what I wanted.

I just sold the amp last week - I have a Deluxe Reverb reissue on layaway!!
