General Questions / modified woolly mammoth question
April 05, 2020, 01:26:47 PM
i just made a schematic for a modified woolly mammoth board i wanna make.
basically i just took a mastotron schem and replaced the volume pot by the boost section of the fuzzolo.
My question is would this schematic work ?, and should i keep the volume pot of the mastotron.
i plan to use 2n3904 and the component values of the woolly mammoth.
i wanna check with people here before i order this from oshpark.
i am a noob at this so any feedback would be great ! Thanks !

I made a couple of OSHpark feta complis board and was thinking of doing my own board with some mods.
https://oshpark.com/shared_projects/vh6bA8u6

I did try to swap q2 with a 2n1308 germanium transistor. It really mellowed the volume and distortion, it made it more bassy too. Looking at the schematic I don't understand , is it a op amp fuzz ? To me it looks more like a type of hybrid. Also what are q1 and q3 for ? My guess is q3 is for the tone control. I only got q2 socketed at this time but would love some ideas you guys might have for mods. I can read a schematic ok, but circuit design I am pretty much at novice level! I am trying to do these types of projects to hopefully learn a bit and do something cool :) I love this fuzz so much and would love any feedback or ideas on what I could do to mod it or any info how it works !

So far I wanna have a switch to change q2, thinking of putting the gate control as a knob. I would also love to had switches to change some components value that might help change the character of the fuzz. Maybe adding the octave part of the retrograde would be cool... As I am writing this I realize that I should really buy and learn how to breadboard xD well anyway hope someone can help me with this! Thanks in advance !!!

Open Discussion / the pedal movie trailer

I got turned on by Fran's YouTube channel about this. Reverb.com is making a movie about pedals oO I gotta admit I am kinda hyped about this :) always love hearing about building pedals !

It might get new people in on the hobby so I am all for that :)

Hi guys ! I made a few of my own Animato boards and everything seems to work just fine, but when I try to max out the gain or volume pots if I get around pass 3 o clock the pedal will squeal very loud. :/

The rangemaster trimpot does not help ... I really got to turn it off if I what to go full gain. Because of this I am 99% sure that the problem is in the 2 piggy backed transistors. I don't own any nte102/103. I have been trying different Russian and Japanese germanium transistors but with no luck.

So I am wondering... Is it suppose to osciliate at full gain ? What hfe should I use ? Have any of you ever built one of these ? What was you experience with your builds ?

Thanks !

Stumbled on this demo while on a YouTube rabbit hole :)

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=M_fqLR0dRTw

A relish brand guitar
This company made a removable magnetic back and interchangeable pickup's all in a aluminum body.
Really a simple idea that make's you think ... Why didn't I think of that !

Looking at their site the models they have goes from 4k to 7k sooooo a long way from my price range but still they are pretty cool xD

Open Discussion / Ehx bass bass mono synth watch ^^
January 18, 2019, 08:00:20 PM
Well ... my YouTube feed linked me with a new ehx product video... The bass mono synth, and like most of their new digital stuff its worth a little look see ^^ all along I was waiting to hear a MJ thriller type bass but no luck :\ but still if only my girlfriend had even 0.1% interest in using fx pedal on her bass I would buy it in a heartbeat.... Euhh if its not too expensive !

Hello everyone !! I recently tried to get the schematic for the spaceman effect wow signal. I know that the guys from deadendfx did trace it a couple of years ago and posted it on a other forum , but the pictures of the schematic are now dead links :/. I also found a vero layout but I don't understand how to convert those in schematic.

The reason for my search is that I want to see if I can make a small mod board to stitch the LFO/tremolo part of the circuit on to other fuzz ^^ don't know if its possible but it seems like a cool little feature to put on lots of different fuzz and distortions. If anyone still got a picture of the schematic I would love to see how it works ! Thanks !

October 09, 2018, 09:30:12 AM
Just looking at the taydas new arrivals and saw this
https://www.taydaelectronics.com/a-4-5w-k-mini-relay-dpdt-4-5vdc-1a.html.
A 2.50$ relay :/ i dont understand how the datasheets work but i was wondering if i could sub it for the tq2-l-4.5 ?

I got like 10 vfe projects on the backlog because of sourcing issues xD if this works i am gonna be one step closer to getting a couple of those finished^^

Thanks!!

General Questions / Flim-flam bbd question
August 25, 2018, 09:25:27 PM
The flim-flam project in the diy section would it work if i used a mn3008 ? Or even a mn3007 xD i am learning how to use eagle (i made a fuzzolo and prune and custard board successfully!!!!) So i am on the hunt for easy looking schematics to practice on :)

While looking at the diffrent diy projects i had the idea of making a fuzz pedal with a switchable slap echo effect. I really dont need a lot of echo... just enough to had a bit of gravitas to my fuzzy goodness.

I raided a old electronic store a couple of months ago and got about 20 mn3008 and mn3007 are easy to source. Just finished a totall recall build last week and it sounds sooooo good !!!! Now i got a BBD fever !

So if its possible do i just have to replace the bbd ic in the schematic? Will it screw the clock ic ? Is this idea worth it ?

Open Discussion / Ocean 11 reverb from ehx
May 31, 2018, 07:42:13 PM
Stumbled on a new demo on YouTube from EHX...
The ocean 11 reverb. It got sooooo much different setting its kinda overwhelming OK
Very similar to the canyon delay they released not to long ago
It sounds completely digital but god ... So many options
The infinite setting is basically a auto freeze pedal

I am telling you all.... Soon. EHX will make pedals that will make your coffee in the mornings ... Just you watch :p

Hi ! I got a dusty sawse pcb laying around and i was wondering if anyone knows a place where i could source a 3 pin ldr to make a vtl5c4/2 vactrol. Buying a original vactrol is just too expensive :/. Tried to check on mouser but got lost real fast.... that website is not idiot friendly :x thanks  :)

General Questions / Tayda 1590dd is too thick oO
May 28, 2018, 09:19:09 AM
I layed out holes on a 7$ tayda 1590dd for a 5 effect multi pedal. I had a real hard time drilling but when i finally got it done and tried to put the pots in i realised that the enlosure is so thick that i cant screw the washers on :/... its the first time i ever got a 1590dd from them, as anyone else had the same problem ? I am wondering if i just got a dud enclosure or if all of them are like that ... Thanks :)

Good day every one !
So i have just finished a build of pedalpcb.com roboto a dba robot inspired clone and i was wondering if a simple mod could be possible to control the speed of the arpeggio setting. It would do wonders for its versatility :D. Thanks !
