So, I had a "new baby day" on thursday. Super happy to be at home for christmas with the family insted of the hospital. It is my second son and continuing the tradition to squeeze in an Artists name we named him Gabriel Ruben.

I started posting here and just now discovered this section. So I think I have some introduction to do...

I'm from Germany and started building pedals about 12 years ago but stopped the same year. I build a few amps over the years and recently I had to switch to Pedals since Amp building is just to damn expensive (for a Student). I'm studying electrical engeneering but hope to graduate next month.

I'm a lousy guitar player, but apparently I have a thing for diy I'm super into Overdrives and Distortion sounds but as I was building pedals in the past my big goal was to build all the Lovetones but back in the day there were no schems and boards available. Apparently that changed over the last years (thanks Alan and LaceSensor, you helped me a lot over the past few weeks and prepare for a few questions when it comes to actuall building those bad boys ). Also I'm a bit of a uC fan, working on a few Midi projects but proceed reaaaaaly slow there since I have no time for it.

Well that's me. This community is great and I hope one day I'll be able to give something back.

Just wanted to share this prototype build. Since I've been offering these PCBs I just wanted to get it verified by myself so I build it with the stuff I had at hand.
The OP amp supposed to be an OPA2134 but those are kind of rare in local electronics stores so I subd it with a TL072. The zener Diodes are also different types but mine are also 5,6v zener so they should be close enough.
I had no 1590bb at hand so I took the only sturdy box I had at hand that was big enough. It's the box the first Samsung Galaxy Phone came in so once it gets a proper box I'll give it the name "GALAXY Drive".
Also the wires are really sloppy, i wanted to finish it up quick so I could test it before my sons bed time

For the prototype I did not mount a jack for the output that goes straight into the Poweramp but I'll do it on the real build.

The sound is superb. I had it in front of my Madamp, into a fender style channel and is just so brutal. It's tight and has a solid bottom end (a bit too much for my taste but I can dile it down to a level where i like it). I was afraid that it would be a bit too close to the BE OD but it is not. I'm looking forward to put that baby in front of my SLO Clone and cranck it.




Ps: I used greenies for the caps but since I won't have pots underneath the pcb I mounted them on the other side, with the switch on board there is a lot of unused space underneath and I wanted to avoid having problems with the lid in a real 1590bb

I've been reading a lot about designing PCBs with Eagle. Most of the tutorials and threads refer to the Library of Gussmarkov (and the one from madbean) but sadly all the links are dead and I don't know where to download it. A googled for a while but still only dead links.
Could somebody post a working link or upload it.

I know most likely I can do everything I want with the madbean library but I just want to see what the fuzz is all about.

Here is my take on the Acapulco Gold. First build in about 8-9 years and first time in a 1590a ever.

Tried to do toner transfer with the design and paint a few areas with acrylics. Did not work that great, i kind of hoped for the toner to be a good base for paint but it is not. Gonna etch next time or keep it black'n'white.
