Build Reports / Pork Barrel - Hockey style
March 20, 2012, 03:44:12 PM
This is kind of silly, but I like it. I had these Buffalo Sabres removable tattoos lying around. So when I built my new Pork Barrel, I made it in homage to my favorite hockey team.

I love this version of the PB chorus alot. I like it much better than the prior one I had built (prior Madbean version), which had all the mods.

Open Discussion / Foot switch for Cube amp help??
December 07, 2011, 05:23:12 PM
I ordered a Cube 80. It should be here tomorrow. I'd like to build my own foot switches for the amp channels. effects, looper. It uses 3 Boss FS-6 switches.

The FS-6 switches have a polarity switch that should be set to the Left setting according to the Cube manual.

It should be really easy to make these. But I cannot determine if the momentary switches should be normally open or normally closed. Has anyone already figured this out??

Any help or suggestions for building the foot switch would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!

Open Discussion / PPP 10% off today
July 04, 2011, 12:45:50 PM
Hey Everyone,

I just went to the pedal parts plus website and saw they are offering 10% off today (7/4). Thought I'd share the info. (I am not affiliated with PPP.)

Happy 4th!

Build Reports / Serendipity Build
February 17, 2011, 11:28:36 AM
This is my first time posting a build report. I am really happy with the way this turned out. I used a 1290NS enclosure from Pedal Parts Plus - they painted it "Purple Starlight." I drilled it and used the small Boss-like knobs from the Shack (have you noticed they now call themselves "the Shack"?). I don't usually like those knobs but they work on this one.

I put a strip of red electrical tape under the jacks because I drilled the holes a little too close to the top of the enclosure and the tip contacts were touching the enclosure.

Anyway - the pedal sounds great. My new favorite.

Requests / Catalinbread Formula No 5
February 02, 2011, 08:06:57 PM
I love the demo of this pedal on the Catalinbread website. I've been watching the FSB thread on this hoping to see verified vero layout. They've got a verified PCB layout but I haven't gotten into making my own PCBs yet.

Any chance of seeing a Formula 5 PCB here??

Mods / Macheen: switch to SHO?
January 28, 2011, 04:55:31 AM
Hi. I read in the project document that the Macheen has an SHO at the front of the circuit. When I compare the schematics (Macheen vs. Slambox) I can see the core of the SHO at the front of the Macheen schem. But it is not exact, as the output from Q1 goes thru R5 and C3 into Q2/Q3.

Is it possible to insert a switch somewhere in that area (R5/C3) to redirect the output bypassing the rest of the circuit? That way you could switch between SHO and Macheen. I am guessing it would be fairly easy - but am still new to this stuff.

Thanks for any comments or help!!

Hi, I just completed my Yellow Shark build. The kids are asleep, so I can't really crank it yet. But at low volumes it sounds great so far. I was a little surprised by the Nature control. I assumed it was a tone control, but noticed it impacts the overdrive quality more than tone. Since it has LEDs for clipping, I turned off the lights and watched the LEDs as I strummed and fiddled with the knob. There is more light emitted as you turn the knob counter-clockwise.

Anyway, I looked at the schematic (which is almost greek to me) but I can see that the Nature pot is in a loop with the LEDs. So does the Nature control blend in LED clipping? Can someone explain what's going on with the Nature control? It seems like a cool and novel idea. Is it?

Thanks for any help you can give me in understanding this!! - Rowland
