can the building blocks of that pedal be applied to to other preamps say sunn orange marshall ect. sort of like changing the caps and tone stacks?
after reading the build doc i got so exited i thought there would be like opto compressor /overdrive or some thing, not a amp in a box .... my favorite

i worked very hard trying to pedalize my favorite amp......and it never worked , was cool overdrive and that is about all :-[

i found this muamp and it seems really cool by its self im not sure if it could be subbed as a gain stage  in those tube to fet type circuits
in any case thank you jon and brian. this shot to the top of my list, i can not wait to build this.

i have wanted this type of thing for my rig for a very long time so many pedals that dont work with the baritone is half the reason i got into this hobby

General Questions / wife wants more sustain from bass
December 26, 2014, 10:42:22 AM
well my wife asked for some thing that gives her more sustain and i want to do a 2 in 1 pedal .
she really like the fault line and i did a Green Russian  mudbunny.

so i was thinking maybe a compressor and faultline would do what she is wanting

i would love some thoughts on this and suggestions

this really is interesting to me and how cool if we could start building SS amps....

General Questions / route 66 compressor ?
February 07, 2014, 03:40:19 PM
i had my friends route 66 in to fix a broken foot switch(its a overdrive/compressor dual pedal)

and i gotta say that the compressor is really cool can anybody tell me about what it is or similar?
the only compressor i own is the black finger EHX and it sounds nothing like this

Build Reports / multiplex/rubadub/fatpants

am super happy with the sound of this but i jacked up the envirotex a bit live and learn
bcalla i stole your idea for led on the switch was really inspiring aesthetics

but ever since i saw the Jon's joshua tree i wanted something like it

part of why i waited so long to do it was the fatpants jr was comming out  and i wanted a small as possible  enclosure

still pretty pleased for my first multi pedal

this is something ive wanted to do for a long time. i got this head in the early 90s and its been my favorite
i have  been reading runoffgroove and wampler book to try to make this amp to a pedal version

using tayda j201's  have built on breadboard  to the wiper of the treble pot, from there it goes to the....( phase inverter?)  then to the power section

pin 9  of the PI i have no idea what to do with and am now stuck
the sound is very close to the amp
there is some weird high artifacts in the distortion but im hopeing fine tuneing the bias will help

the runoffgroove site has the PI in there builds i think this is so that signal can be sent split to power tubes without   phase canceling out?

in this case is that even needed? and if so why do runoffgroove have ?
i would love some advice
here is the schematic
this is a Coliseum its the same circuit except it had 4 output tubes in stead of 2 in the studio
in 69 they went to  6550 instead of kt88

Build Reports / muffin top and fatpants
October 12, 2013, 01:31:54 PM
this time i went for that DnD thing ....i know im a huge nerd
my first attempt the etch went very bad on the muffintop. i used it any way and basically was taking the leads and soldering point to point.

it worked on the test rig but took a crap on me when i tryied to box it. started from scratch and took my time which is good cause i found id also put a wrong cap in as well

but the dynamics of the muffin top is crazy when you hit it with a boost sweet distortion and dial the master back
ican play while my daughter takes a nap
i still dont know what the trimmer is for????

fatpants build was smooth as most beans board usually are

General Questions / grape vine mod?
August 25, 2013, 02:46:58 PM
I tried to google this but cant find anything except the guitar fx vero build for the DLS mark 3
can the grapevine be used to build just a plexi superbass no super lead or switch or any thing like that?
if some one could give me some idea where to start that would be great

General Questions / which mudbunny for bass
June 17, 2013, 01:54:01 PM
ok  guys here's my dilemma

i made my wife a few pedals when she started playing bass and im really new to this

i did a kingslayer with higher input caps and a vero build of a woolly mammoth and a fault line from hasher (?) discontinued board

she loves the fault line,  hates the pinch control on the wooly mammoth but loves the low end that it retains

so she asked if its possible to have the smoothness of her big muffs (not so zippery )  with the low end that the woolly mammoth has
http://juansolo.demon.co.uk/stompage/Muffs.htm    would 1 of these make her happy? im wanting to make an order for some boards real quick and could use the advice

Open Discussion / first bread board from schematic
April 16, 2013, 01:16:38 PM
i just made a woolly mammoth from a schematic   it worked.
i found the tone stack  and learned how to get rid of the pinch control
experimented with values

i know this doesn't seem much to where you guys are at in your understanding of electronics
but for me this was a huge (light bulb turns on moment)

I'm gonna try learning about and building tone stacks next

I'm so jazzed i had to share, my wife was not really getting my enthusiasm (didn't stop her from stealing my kingslayer for her self)

i read this forum ever day
