Thanks everyone for the comments. :)
I'll keep you posted with my progress.

I was thinking about repainting it. I don't really like the colour.
But.. on the other hand I think I would like to keep it stock.
I'll definitely not add smoke and lights to the pipes haha...

But a midi interface mod would be pretty cool though. :)

Open Discussion / Got myself a big church organ
July 20, 2022, 11:35:13 AM
Hi folks,

Just wanna share this insane little project of installing a huge church organ in our lodge.   :D
A couple of weeks ago my brother called me out of the blue and asked if a wanted a church organ.
I had just watched Look Mom No Computer get one, so I thought yeah why not!..

Here's how it looked when it was in one piece in the church.

Backstory:
It comes from a local small church that was sold and repurposed into a restaurant/café.
The new owners didn't want it and they was about to go to the dumpster / recycling station with it.
But a couple of guys saved it, took it apart and put it in storage where one of them is working.
No one of them had the space, so they asked my brother if he knew someone that could take it.

The organ was made on order from the church by a local builder in 1998 and cost over 100 000 euros new.

We have a lodge on our homestead. It's not ideal, but better than the dumpster.
I plan on building a stage and do shows there in the near future.

I went to pick it up a few days ago, with the help of some friends.

Now it stands in pieces in our lodge. I've been clearing it out and cleaning for a few days.

Next week will be assembly time, as we need to be at least 6 people to do the heavy lift.
The frame needs to be on from the top onto the main part...

I'll make a new video of the assembly process next week. :)

Just noticed this thread. Thank you for mentioning it. :)
I've been a subscriber for his YT channel for years, so it was a fun and unexpected surprise.
I never expected him to try a guitar synth for a first guitar related electronics projet.
It was nice to see his 555 timer based "failure".

He made quite a few assumptions on how the Parasit projects work though.
I've so far never used the Analog to Digital converter of an Attiny85 (or any microcontroller). :P
And only two projects so far has been Attiny based. Oh well, i'm just glad for the mention. :)

Dave Smith has a video that explains the theory behind the voltage doubler and inverter. :)

You can use almost any oscillator really (like the 555 example) together with a few diodes and capacitors.
But the current capability and voltage stability will be vastly inferior to a dedicated chargepump chip.

I designed a discrete (transistor based) voltage inverter to suit my manhattan style build (the Darby Fuzz).
Wrote about it here: https://www.parasitstudio.se/building-blog/manhattan-style-pedalbuilding
I forgot to draw a schematic for it, but you can probably reverse engineer from the layout if you are interested. :P
It has a bit of a voltage drop under load and can only supply a few mA, but works well for a germanium fuzzface.

The frequency isn't critical, but I tuned it to around 40khz to stay above the hearing range (nyquist frequency).

Anyone playing Jedi: Fallen order?

I loved the old Jedi Knight games, so I've been wanting a new single player Star Wars game for years,
but I have read mixed reviews, and rarely have time to play games nowadays. :/

Wow, that's an impressive amount of work. :)

I have only worked on a single project this year, but I probably spent more than 2000 hours on it and nearly got myself burned out in the process. When i'm ready to get back into developement again I just want to do something simple and minimalistic. :P

That's so sad. Sorry for your loss Brian!

I feel your pain. I lost a dog in 2016, and it was a very difficult time.

Here's a recent picture of my little gang.

Awww... Congratulations on the new family member!  :)

I grew up with Briards, as mom had several ones over the years and even breeded on one of them. Lovely dogs!

I have two Bearded Collies now (and one Border Collie), which look very similar but are smaller.

Yes, puppies are alot of work  :P
But they grow up fast.

Pluto TV has a great Kung Fu channel, and it's free

Ohh, thanks for the tip!

Drunken Master was the kung fu movie I've seen most recently.  Enjoyed it immensely.

It's one of my favourites!
Check out Snake in the Eagles Shadow.
Same cast, but Jackie is alittle more likable in the movie IMO.  :P

I've been getting back into old school kung fu movies lately...
Old 70's stuff, like Shaw Brothers ect. Anyone else here into that?

I used to collect them in the late 90's to late 2010'ish.

When I was super bored the other day I started an instagram account for my collection...  ;D
Check it out at https://www.instagram.com/kungfumoviecollector/

I'm playing Ion Fury. It's pretty damn fun for a new FPS based on the build engine (Duke Nukem 3D ect.)  ;D

I've seen those PCB jigs before  -  where did you get it?

It's an Ideal-tek PCSA1 PCB mount.
Expensive, but worth every cent. :)

I got mine from Conrad. Farnell and digikey also sells it.
