I don't know why I love those yellow 1n4148 so much but I do.

Nice I need to build one of these

I found a pattern on the net for wrapping boxes in fabric and cut the tweed the same way then rolled the edges on the table to smooth them out.

Thanks I'm very pleased with how it turned out.  It's a great sounding delay I defnitely prefer it to the rub-a-dub deluxe.

Build Reports / Rub-A-Dub that's been a long time coming

So after asking for advice in this thread back in March 2017 about working with Tweed

http://www.madbeanpedals.com/forum/index.php?topic=25082.msg244350#msg244350

I've finally gotten my ass in gear and finished a tweed covered pedal.  I've recently gone back to an egnater tweaker and realised just how much I've missed one of these.  They're super cheap but just sound fantastic I genuinely don't know why I sold my old one.  The only thing which really bugs me with the tweaker is the lack of verb and thanks to John and Cleggy I had a rub-a-dub in my build pile.  I couldn't think what kind of finish I wanted so I finally had a go with the tweed and I think it turned out pretty good for a first effort.

This is a recycled enclosure which is why the pcb is upside down

Just tweed

First coat of shellac

Second coat - this was as dark as I wanted to go this time

Some good ideas here thanks chaps.  Im leaning towards a phase 90 I think.  There was a boost in there originally but Im building a multi boost pedal and putting them all in one box to save me swooping them on my board all the time.

I've just finished a rub a dub and have a penny royal chorus in the build pile so I don't think they're what I'm after either.  Compressors are out because I can't use the damn things, that's the one type of pedal that sounds good to me when other people use them but terrible when I try.

So I have an enclosure I really like but have repurposed the effect into a multi.  What can I put in there instead?  The labelling is nonsensical so that wont affect what goes in there and it can only have 1 control as it's covered in envirotex so drilling more holes is out.

My only veto is fuzz I'm just not a fuzz guy so it would be wasted on me.  So apart from fuzz what circuit should I put in there?

Almost forgot it's a 1590B

That's awesome John.  I'd love to have a go at a valve pedal build.

So one of the rewards I got from peter when he was running his patreon page was the red wolf pcb but I can't seem to find the build doc or schematic in the previous rewards file he sent out.

Does anyone have a build doc for the red wolf they can send me?

General Questions / Belton brick in the loop
October 17, 2019, 05:35:36 AM
Does anyone have experience of using belton brick based delays in a line level effects loop?  I've recently bought an egnater tweaker and as there's no reverb was going to build one but would like to use it in the loop and if they wont like line level I'll probably buy a hall of fame for the loop instead.
