Thanks guys!  I'm so glad to have found this place, I derive a lot of inspiration here.

Drolo Liquid Mercury Phaser. Circuit completed by me.  Artwork created by m-Kresol.  The enclosure is no-film decal on a chrome powder-coated 125BB I got from Small Bear.  This is second time Iíve gotten this type of enclosure, I was excited both times and both times it was a lot of trouble.  I would not recommend these, the powder coat is very fragile.  You can see where some of the paint came off by the rate knob when I was cleaning with isopropanol.
Edit: That sounded bitchy.  Nothing against Small Bear, I use them frequently, resect them, and love what they provide for this community. This particular item, I am not a fan.

Lectric-FX Countdown Phase.  Circuit finished by me, the artwork was created by gordo.  Enclosure is polished aluminum with a no-film decal.

Black Horse Effects Alalog Flanger.  Circuit was partially populated by jubal81, which explains the EQR caps (I started this hobby after those were all gone).  Enclosure is polished aluminum with a no film decal.

Build Reports / MadBean Collaboration Builds

So, if youíve been here awhile, you probably know, there are a lot of cool ass people on this forum.

I got some PCBs from jubal81 a few months ago, in various states of completeness and I wanted to post a few of the builds I have completed.  Typing up the build report I decided to make it a big post, adding in other builds Iíve received contributions from other forum members to be able to complete.

First up, Penyroyal Chorus.  Circuit was completed by jubal81, I just needed to add the pots and box it up. Enclosure is a no film decal on a Tayda box.  This is an insanely nice sounding chorus.  I have a newer Small Clone and this one blows it away.

Happy Birthday Bean!  May your solder flow true and the circuits of your enemies be plagued by heterodyning whine!

Cool, just checking.  I'd recommend you upload some larger pictures.

You did have the BTDR-2 in there when you tested it?

General Questions / 1uF MLCCs
« on: December 12, 2019, 01:55:31 PM »
I'm starting a build this weekend that will need some 1uF MLCCs due to space restraints.  I ordered some from Mouser.  Usually when I order MLCCs I go for the C0G/NP0, but those aren't an option for 1uF.  I ended up ordering some TDK X5R dielectric caps.  Does anybody have experience to say whether or not these are fine?  To make matters more complicated, I don't have a schematic for this build, so, I'm not sure these are going to be in the audio path or not.

I was just looking over Bean's Husky Boy project and it reminded me of this.  It also has some 1uF MLCCs.

Any experience appreciated.

General Questions / Re: Aion Blueshift Biasing

Agreed, this one needs to be assembled in the box (at least the top PCB).  Theres no good way to get the switches and the standoff all lined up without doing that.

I agree with Gordo.  I think you have identified the problem, there is only chorus path working.  Maybe you can try swapping the position of each 3207 to see if the "no bias" thing happens at the other trim after switching the chips?

Looks great!  Where is the bare wire from the output jack going?  Looks like it's soldered to the pot, like in a guitar.

How Do I? Beginner's Paradise. / Re: Damaged cap?

I think the power is reversed, that's why no LED, but double check.  Since the power is going through a protection diode, I might suggest to try switching the leads,  but since you have some nice transistors you might want to wait for help from some of the fuzz jedis.  I'm not one, they actually give me a lot of trouble, even though they are simple.

You might double check the build doc for the version you picked (the down side of "ultimate tweekability") .  Maybe the power is reversed or there is a NPN PNP mix up.  Does the LED light up?
