Tech Help - Projects Page / Glitterrattii Help
October 25, 2011, 09:39:21 AM
This Gilttlerrattii is my second pedal, the first the Zygote worked without issue, but this thing doesn't cooperate.  The soldering work is ugly, but I don't see any joints that could be causing the problems.

When the pedal is off signal seems fine, and the bypass works as normal. When clicked on the LED comes on, but there is no sound at all.  So that makes me think that the jacks and switch might be correct, and the issue lies the board itself, but being so new to this I don't know how to test with my meter which parts could be bad/wrong.

All of that is when it's on battery power, when I plug an adapter in, no signal comes through whether on or off.

I don't really know where to start with trouble-shooting, all suggestions are welcome

Thanks.

Tech Help - Projects Page / Glitterratti Cap
May 09, 2011, 03:17:21 PM
I'm building the bb preamp, and it calls for a 1uf Cap for C2.  I have a 1uf electrolytic cap that shows a positive and negative lead.  However, the pcb does not show which should be pos or neg.  Do I have to get a non-electro cap for this to work?  Or does it matter which side is which?  This is the Glitterratti ver 3.5.

Thanks for your help.

General Questions / Wah Pot
December 20, 2010, 12:04:08 PM
Is there anything special about a Wah Pot other than the little black thing on the shank?  I need to replace mine, but don't want to shell out the 15-30 bucks small bear and others are asking.

Any suggestions?

Tech Help - Projects Page / Re: Soldering Irons
December 20, 2010, 06:51:51 AM
Ok, I ended up getting a loaner iron from a friend, and discovered that the one I had purchased was defective, and not getting nearly hot enough.

I'm building the Rangemaster, and I was able to got it done, but now when I turn it on the LED comes on, but the signla is cut completely.  When Pedal is off, the signal goes through un-affected.  I assume it's because of some solder issues, as it is a nasty soldering job that I need to clean up.  But, do you guys have any quick suggestions?

Thanks, for the help guys, this place is great.

Tech Help - Projects Page / Soldering Irons

I'm fairly new here, and I'm having issues with my soldering Iron.  I started with a very cheap iron I was given, but upgraded a step because the tip of my iron was not getting hot enough for the solder to melt.

However, after upgrading, I'm still coming across the same problem.  I end up using the side of the iron and it is very difficult to maneuver.  I'm not sure if my problem is the type of solder I'm using or that the iron is not nice enough.

My question is:  What solder should I use/do you use?  What type of iron do I need to invest in?  Would the $40 iron at Small Bear be adequate or do I need something stronger?  Or would my inexpensive iron work with higher quality solder?

Tech Help - Projects Page / Re: NPN zombii

The Schematic calls for Germanium PNP Trans.  but if I'm not mistaken the 2n3904's are Silicon NPN.  Should I use the 2n3906, that looks to be PNP?
