Tech Help - Projects Page / Re: Footswitch help
September 10, 2014, 09:37:21 AM
You could build a loop box for the pedals with your five loops. Each loop consists of a relay that will bypass the effect(s) in the loop. (Your effects are always on) The footswitch connects to your loopbox and activates/deactivates the loops. If you use latching relays, you can use momentary stomp switches. If non latching relays you will need latching stomp switches or build in a latching circuit for each relay.

The effect of increasing the resistance feeding the diodes (or LED's) is that there will be less clipping and your volume will increase. You might also be in the situation where your op amp will clip instead of the diodes. Could be good or nasty, depending on your op amp (and your taste :-) )

The thing with these wah shells (at least with crybabies and the like) is that not all of the pot's rotation is used. If yours is like that, either you can have full volume but cannot rotate the pot completely to zero or the other way round, you can rotate to zero but not to maximum and will have a volume drop. One workaround would be to make our pedal active and have a boost to compensate for the missing part of the pot's rotation. Just a simple buffer booster with a bit of boost would do.

Thanks jimi.
Do you think 500k is good? Too much, too little?
Thanks
If you plug your guitar into it directly I would say 500k is a minimum, otherwise it will load down your guitar pickups and alter the sound too much. Now if it is preceded by a buffer (or a buffered pedal like a Boss), you could use even a 25k or 10k.

Open Discussion / Re: TV Series - What Are You Watching?

I haven't been watching TV lately (years actually) except for an occasional movie.
But recently I have been enjoying Portlandia for a bit of light entertainment. Quite funny and there are often guests from the music world, Jeff Tweedy, Josh Homme, J Mascis, Eddie Vedder, Annie Clarke ...

General Questions / Re: Analogman buffer schematic?
September 05, 2014, 08:53:30 AM
Never heard of that buffer, google does not seem to know any schematics for it either.
From what I have been seeing, "aclaimed" buffers are usually just textbook circuits. There is really not much to them. All they are supposed to do is provide a high impedance input and low impedance output, while passing the signal.

A regular opamp buffer will do that fine (Ex Klon buffer). Not sure if there are any benefits of going into anything fancier.

Welcome to the board. Thanks for sharing your trem project as I can't wait to tackle that one at some point. I have been reading your blog for the past hour and you have some great stuff on there. I also really enjoyed the tracks you did for your wifes birthday. Great stuff.

Cody

Thanks for the time you spent there! I'm glad you enjoyed it :-)

Hi, Dave!

We have a members' projects section, hopefully you'll post a couple things in there ... especially your harmonic tremolo ...

Since you ask so kindly I might as well do :-)

Hi,

Not sure if this is what is causing your issue, but there is a mod to turn a wah into a volume pedal by lifting the 4u7 cap (C2 on the weener wah schem). Perhaps have a look there, it might be not soldered correctly or reversed.

Not sure if this is the right place to post this, feel free to move it if needed

I just wanted to introduce myself to the people here :-)

My name is David. I am a portuguese expat living in Belgium. I have been doing DIY pedals since the late nineties after seeing a schematic for a BluesBreaker in a German guitar magazine. Having done some electronics during my studies, I realized that building that pedal would probably not be that hard, and it wasnt. And I have never stopped since :-)

I have been previously hanging out on other forums but lately took a liking to this one that I find very active and motivating. Lots of great projects from Brian and other members. Great community initiatives as far as I have seen. I recently finished a Current Lover that I loved (no pun intended, I guess ...). I keep opening it up once in a while just to stare with amazemenet at all the stuff that they were able to cram into this little PCB ....

So after having been a lurker for a while I will hang out around here more often and hope I can also contribute a little :-)
