Sweet builds jimilee.  Triple DIY points for etched boards.

Same here. Is the OP talking about the faceplate on the Laureate?

I felt a moment of great happiness and exhilaration when I read the thread title (MB faceplate decals!?!), before crashing to ground when I came to same conclusion (Laureate faceplate).

At least it  got my heart rate up!

I mean ... imagine the possibilities of "Love Mad Bean" faceplate decals!  MB himself as a cherub?

The obvious lazy answer would be to use two Double Pole Single Throw momentary stomps. Have one side of the stomp going to the footswitch, and the other going to a LED (or LED circuit), with no electrical connection.

Thanks Alan.

Wanted to try that, but having real trouble finding DPST momentary stomps.

Tried using a different switch - SPDT On-(On) Momentary (solder) - but the Softie LEDs and the Katana response (effects loop on/off, external fx footpedal on/off) are out of sync (i.e., the LED is on when the effects are off).

Any suggested fixes or alternatives would be appreciated.

Thanks again!

Don't worry!  Everyone relax!  I've got this one.  Solved!

It turns out ... (and I may be the last to know) ... that:
1. You can achieve the hard to find DPST momentary stomp switch's functionality by using one half of each side of a DPDT momentary stomp!!   It just requires some time with a multimeter and notepad to figure out which solder lugs provide "NO" function (for Softie) and which ones provide "NC" function (for Katana) ; and,

2. The LED and Katana effects are independent in my application, so if the Katana software has the effect on when you power up the Softie, the light will be out of sync with the effect.  Situation solved by saving Katana patches with effects turned off.

Hi all.

I'd like to build 2 separate Boss FS-5U footswitch circuits with externally powered LEDs and separate TS jacks into a single 125B enclosure.

I'd be using this in the 2 FS-5Us>GA-FC>Katana 100 Head configuration shown on p. 8 of the Katana owners manual:

The difference is, I'd like the 2 separate FS-5U circuits in the picture to be in 1 enclosure and for them to each have their own (externally powered) LEDs and TS jacks.

As far as I can tell, the FS-5U footswitch is just a normally closed momentary switch attached to a TS jack, so I built one of those and it worked.

Then I put 2 of them into the same 125B enclosure, and it worked too.

But then I tried to add externally powered LEDs.  I thought that - because I want the LEDs to switch latching style (back and forth) while the switches themselves are momentary - it would require relays.

So I tried using Softie 2 boards wired to the normally closed momentary switches like this:

Trouble is, it works as intended with no power, but when power is applied:
- the top switch triggers both LEDs
- the bottom switch triggers no LEDs

Guessing this probably has something to do with shared power or the Softie working by grounding to the enclosure ... but can anyone offer fixes or alternatives to get the outcome I'm after?

Thaanks!

Just put an $8 pcb in the cart and the only shipping option is $10.76 DHL, be a real kick in the stones if there was courier ransom or taxes or duty to pay to get it released.

I am in. Montreal and I always get customs charges on dhl orders. If it's a big order even with Canada Post I get stuck with some custom charges. So now I go dhl...its a lot quicker but in the end it will cost you more... Especially on small orders. !!!

I'm in Canada and my last 2 Tayda orders were DHL as the only shipping option.  I also had an email from customer service indicating this was a temporary thing:

QuoteBecause of the virus situation; all postal service options have temporarily stopped shipping to some countries including CANADA as well.

For now we can provide only Express Delivery service. But please note that there might be Import Tax upon delivery and we can't estimate how much it can be however we can help you if you need to change invoice total, but we can't guarantee if this will save on import tax for you or not.

So we would like to ask if you would like to cancel your order and we will issue a full refund thru your paypal?

-or-

Would you like to upgrade your shipping method to DHL Express Delivery service? And if you are ok to upgrade to express, we will send you a link to pay for shipping cost differences.

Both orders had a tax and fee surcharge from DHL, so my recommendation is order big to spread the fee out across as many items as possible.

On the upside, both orders got to me in a week!  Normally it takes 4-6 for their post option.

Madbean Dirtbag Deluxe: Deluxe Memory Man in a 1590BB: beautiful, musical, compact analog 550ms delay with chorus / vibrato modulation, true bypass and center-pin negative 9–15vDC operation.  It will never leave my pedalboard.

I think the Total Recall is a newer version (for sale in the MBP store) of the Dirtbag Deluxe. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm an amateur with things electrical, but think at least the power supply requirements are different.  Dirtbag Deluxe is center-pin negative running at 9-15v (mine running at 15v from Voodoo Lab 9v output via MB Road Rage).  Looks like the Total Recall runs at centre-pin positive 24v using a wall-wart.  Haven't compared ciruits, but best recollection of the release discussion is that the Total Recall is closer to a direct Memory Man clone than the Dirtbag Deluxe.

Remember though the OP asked us what our build would be if we could pick only one MN3005 project.  The Dirtbag Deluxe would be my pick because I love it!

Isn't that the pt2399 version?

Nope.  Dirtbag Deluxe (Revised 12.12.11), IC 4 and 5 are MN3005 or v3205.  Mine are MN3005.

General Questions / 4:1 Compressor at 18 volts?
March 22, 2020, 12:05:01 AM
Hi all.

I'm just boxing up a MB 4:1 compressor and the way my board is shaping up I either need another tap on my 9-volt daisy chain or to use the 18-volt outlet on my VL ISO-5.

Can the 4:1 compressor be run at at 18 volts?  Is there an upside (more headroom?) or downside (more noise?) doing that?

My google-fu is not strong, but I did find a site that suggests it's fine if your caps are rated high enough (mine are): https://atomiumamps.tumblr.com/post/158891400886/hollis-flatline-compressor-modsupdates-ive-built

Any guidance would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Any news on these projects? They sounded like a lot of fun.  :) Or did I miss them?
This was over a year ago, and I don't remember seeing them either.

I like to think of them as on hold ... with really funky muzak playing in the background while we wait for them to drop.  But ... that's just me.

I hear everything in Canada is made of wood. Do you confirm or deny this rumor?

Not to hijack the thread, but not entirely accurate MB.  Some things are made from ice or snow.  Sometimes with moss and sticks and animal pelts thrown in ... though I guess the sticks are wood.  So, there's that.

DD-7 with external tap for slapback and getting your Edge on.  Dirtbag Deluxe for washes / longer delay times.  That's me anyway.

That's a great looking build. I've got the earlier version where I can't flip order.  Miss that.

Share your source for graphics?  I've been googling for 2 days and not come close!
