Nice build marmora!  An inspiration, really.  I've been thinking of building this circuit for a while.   If I read things correctly, then your final schematic would look like this?

Being as I'm a novice, I'd appreciate it very much if you could confirm that/point out any errors.

I don't think I know enough to translate this to stripboard (spent some time trying this AM), but I'm pretty sure I could replicate it using the GGG PCB (with an added bottom pot and SDDT tone switch ... I just need to figure out how to connect the various lugs  :-[).  This would have the added bonus (?) of a boost stage for unity volume.

Anyway, kudos again and appreciation for any feedback that you might offer.

Thanks, Bruce.

BLMS's (no affiliation except customer) Lawrence Scaduto sent out a mailing list link this morning for his song-a-month album "TUFF NOOGIES": http://youtu.be/no9S0TYGXYw

I had no idea what to expect, but I'm really liking it!  I guess he's not just about great service!

General Questions / Re: Mp3 player in to my amp?

I think the (no affiliation) TH Custom Effects Madbox wpuld do that for you: http://diy.thcustom.com/madbox-mixersplitter-v1-0-diy/.  I've found that Thomas is very quick to respond if you have any questions.  Cheers!

I've got a Princeton Reverb Reissue and I love it.  Beautiful, sparkling cleans and it takes pedals very well.  The newer models have a reinforced speaker baffle and that's essential in my view (eliminates cab vibration noise at higher volumes).  I replaced the stock output transformer with (no affiliation) Billm's "Low Profile TO20 Output Transformer (see http://billmaudio.com/wp/); that really tightened up the low end.  I also replaced the speaker cable with something heavier gauge (noticeably tighter low end and brighter high end).  Other than that it's stock.  Great amp, easy to move.

Kudos all around!!  I was following your tech support thread (I'm newb-ish and thinking of this build too).  It's great that you got the circuit working. I still marvel at the knowledge and support that the wise and skilled on this site can offer.  Great news that you're happy with the effect.  Nice and tidy inside too!

That's looks so good it's ridiculous!!  Holy smokes Batman!  Nice job.  I have one of these PCB's to build; now I might just need some felt.  Inspirational.

Nice build.  Cool graphic.  I haven't seen anything like that before.  And ... NOW I KNOW WHAT "CAYA" STANDS FOR!  Really, I didn't get it before (and I bought one of the PCB's ... partly 'cause I like KC's use of same :-[).

No experience with the vintage version, but I seriously LOVE my PR reissue with stock speaker (after I swapped the output transformer to get rid of the farty bottom end (see http://billmaudio.com/wp/?page_id=545)).  If you buy the reissue used, make sure you get the reinforced baffle board version (or do it yourself (see http://billmaudio.com/wp/?page_id=438)).

No affiliations with either, but awesome results from both.

Build Reports / Classic Tremolo ... with Hot Glue!
June 29, 2014, 10:10:32 AM
I've been trying to learn CCR songs lately and needed a tremolo effect to get me in the ballpark sound-wise.

I built up a JMK PCB's Classic Tremolo with graphics inspired by a boutique reverb I'd seen that fitted the effect:

2 LEDs: 1 for on/off, 1 for rate.

I had some trouble with nasty cracking, popping, grounding-type noise, but it turned out to be a trannie siting loose in a socket (solved with hot glue).

Much thanks to Jacob (jkokura) and Ben (rullywowr) for some coaching and confidence-building on this one.

Great little effect!

I'm a late starter with guitar and gear and jumped right in with George L's.  No complaints, but eventually I looked for a lower cost option.  I've started making my own using:

- GLS Audio 1/4" Pancake Plug Right Angle Male Connector Mono TS (Orange County Speaker)
- Mogami W2319 bulk cable (Redco), thickened at the pancake plug collar with some heat shrink.

About a year in on the GLS/Mogami's, very happy with sound quality and no durability issues.

Build Reports / Re: 3 builds

Innovative and visually/technically impressive builds as always!  I've been keen on a reverb build and yours is an inspiration.

Being from the newbie side of things, can you post the resistor value that fixed the tone at the same level as the original Rub-a-Dub? Also, does the 6PDT wiring need to be modified at all or could a guy just solder the spec'd resistors and wires as shown?

Hi All.

My third build, but it took longer to get posted than builds 4 and 5 due to an enclosure re-do (boost before fuzz really didn't sound great, plus hole arrangement/spacing was off).  As the title says, it's a 2-in-1 build of a Madbean Mangler and Madbean Range Master along with a GGG charge pump so it can be run off a "regular" 9V supply.  Trannies from Small Bear.  Effect combination and graphic inspired by a similar offering from a boutique pedal maker.

Thanks to Felix, Jacob, Andre and Jon for responding to my posts for tech support on this build:

Very much appreciated guys.

I REALLY like this pedal.  Super fun to play: classic rock and indie rock tones all over the place.  Effects sound great separately and combined.  Pedal sounds great straight into amp and through an overdrive too!

Thanks Madbean!

Thanks Lee, that's an awesome response!  I'm definitely feeling a power supply build coming on.

Full disclosure: this comment is going to seem really lame to some/many/most readers.  Nonetheless, here goes:

I'm also pretty keen on building a power supply for a small modulation pedal board (I've got a Voodoo Labs ISO-5 on my main board; works great).  I did a fair bit of searching before giving up, even finding and reading up on the Spyder and TH Customs projects.  However, this is the lame part I guess:

1. I couldn't find a transformer to order that I was confident would work with the TH Customs PCB; and,
2. I couldn't find a simplfied wiring diagram for the Spyder (e.g. which transformer leads do you use and which (if any) do you heat shrink and bundle out of the way).

I'm not a complete newbie to working with high voltage supplies, etc, having successfully built a Weber amp kit and swapped transformers on my Princeton Reverb RI, but I need a little more detail/guidance than what I was able to find online.

Any chance one of you wiser folks could point out a Mouser or Small Bear transformer that would work with Thomas's PCB and/or post a wiring diagram for the Spyder?  That'd be much appreciated!
