Open Discussion / This has to end

This is my visual workbench confession. This image captures the reality of my workbench for about the last year or so. This is one of the reasons why I haven't been building anything. If you are in the same situation, take a pic and post it. It's your "before" pic. Be brave. Let's get these work stations clean and build something dang it!

Got 2nd Pfizer this morning. Same shoulder pain as first jab but I feel pretty normal otherwise so far.

Welcome! That's some beautiful work there. You're going to fit right in

Got my first Pfizer shot a week ago. I had a sore arm that night but it was fine by the next day. Kind of dreading the second one but really thankful to even have the opportunity and glad to do my part. My wife works in a school library so she's been vaccinated for a while. Everyone in my household is at least partially vaccinated at this time which feels really good.

Good luck Alan, how much extra time do you need to get the job done? Do you have the gear to maintain, resharpen the blade edge?
dave

Yeah. I think you just acquired a new hobby. Sharpening, honing, polishing. Still, pretty dang cool.

Damn Lee!!! Super cool.

Man, Tycho is one of my favorite artists. He's a huge inspiration of mine and listen to his stuff all the time.

I know Cody is a huge fan of his as well, hopefully he sees this.

Anyway, nice to see you back. I have been away as well and hope to be doing some DIY stuff soon.

Good to know he's got some fans around here! Good to hear from you Justin

Nice build.

I'm surprised you couldn't find a 1.5u anywhere, I found them on AliBaba for instance (not that I'm keen to place an order there). They're admittedly hard to find, but if you need to ever do anything like this again they are definitely out there.

Good point. I vaguely remember finding them on Alibaba and then not really knowing the process there. I also remember wanting to keep it to a shorter depth and not finding any 1.5u solutions for that. Still, in hindsight, this would have been a much easier way to do it.

Then I scrolled down and realized no manufacturer in the world would do this.

Funny you should say that. It's actually the reason he wanted this built. He has other bays in formats like bantam/TT, which are what you find in studios and you can find those wired PTP but it apparently just doesn't exist for lowly TRS. He prefers to have all of his instruments and effects all patched in ready to go and of course all of that stuff is regular 1/4". I just hope he likes it! The pictures don't show all the flaws. It should function well for him though and I think that's what he cares most about.

That's in the bucket of "why didn't I think of that very obvious thing?" Nice.

The fact that you figured this out is super impressive to me. Very well done man.
