my solution to enclosure marring (vise, metal chips, whatever) is blue painters tape. extra layers applied to surfaces that will meet the vise. also there are no-mar replacement vise jaws or magnetic ones will stick to the ones you have

I'd probably go with stick and get your practice in "welding in the round"

most people are pretty agreeable at $20 when it comes to pedals, $50 when it comes to amps.

if they're friendly, I'll ask them what they have lying around that doesn't work or they don't use as well and take that in trade for the parts and labor. once took a deluxe memory man that was missing a power supply and had bad pots (someone actually got superglue in them) in trade for repairing the ground on a tu-2 and modding a blue box

https://billetautomotivebuttons.com/ ... the first one to include the "panty dropper" button in a build pretty much wins build of the year by default

Ra's al Ghul and I'm ok with the way the character was handled in other media.

the 4 series reverb pan is 17" long and with shipping was more like $30-$40 depending on the source and brand. the 8 series effectively shortens the pan to 9.25" and while the cost is about the same, the shipping can be less if you shop around. I went with the longer pan because I was planning on the whole unit being the size of the amp head it was going to sit on.

belton/accutronics 4AB3C1B reverb pan, just like the standalone fender reverb unit.

Build Reports / Surfy Bear Reverb Project

I'll be updating this one once I'm completely finished. I need to add feet (so it sits on the amp head properly straddling the handle), control labels, and probably do some wire management inside. It definitely needs a sex wax sticker on there for legitimacy but a local surf shop sticker is a nice start. This is on an older revision of the board that I found when unpacking a couple boxes of garage stuff leftover from my move. Wonderful spring reverb, plenty of drip available, and the EQ with the reverb dialed out is really nice and warm.
The downside is working with such a cheap enclosure(less than $20 for a 19.1" tool box). The metal dents from center punching and dents worse with drilling, it was also a little beat up in shipping. This particular cheap Chinese one takes a while to get even through Home Depot so I just rolled with it rather than return it. The upside is you've got real estate for artwork or surf shop decals.

an armadillo fight was one of the better nature moments ever ... they kinda run at each other, do a flip, kick at each other, and run some more.

Open Discussion / Re: Reverb Class A Article

good enough for reverb ... I try not to engage in the debate about class a because it usually involves someone who has an amp that is cathode biased with no negative feedback that doesn't understand that those two things don't guarantee class a operation in a push pull amp. disagreements are had, words exchanged, feelings hurt, cycle continues.

progress as promised! toolbox and reverb tank are inbound ... grabbed the total recall since it is on sale ... and a sticker from a local surf shop to slap on the toolbox to give it some street cred
