For doing something like adding back in the effects loop, so you think going with something like the 1590x for the 2" side walls would give enough room for the extra jacks?

Can't vouch for swapping the transistor, but I think I used 10uf for c22 and it fixed the rate LED brightness on the one I built.

I've got an idea in my head of doing a multi box -- Lovetone flanger, phaser, overdrive, and trem, Madbean reverb, and maybe the DI board at the end for the XLR out.

Wuht.  :o

Just wanted to  give a huge thanks to Brian! It's a lot of work doing these contests, but I know we all really appreciate everything you do.

Also a big thanks to all of the sponsors for the runner up prizes! It's very generous of all of you.

As far as prize goes, hmmmm. I think I'll taakkee... the JMK credit!

Here's the Fuzz Saw!

For a recap it's an Grind Customs Fx Ultrastoner mk2 into a Pit Fighter and opto-tron bypass from 1776 that I built into a wooden enclosure with an actual saw blade for the top panel. Oh yeah, and the knobs are resin cast of some of my fingers. If you don't have at least one pedal that makes your wife uncomfortable, then you have one pedal too few.

- drolo - Molecular Disruptor - How did this not get more votes??? People must not have watched the demo. This pedal was so cool on so many levels, from the aesthetics to the PCB layout, to the FV1 code wizardry. So much more than meets the eye here.

Dude, that demo video was sweet. Maybe drolo will post the code sometime. ;) I REALLY need to build myself an fv-1 board.

Lee, you're going to have your hands full this year. All of those cool little 1590g boards, the Timelapse, all of the tap tempo projects, and possibly the polyphase and the ring stinger!? Someone get me some peanut butter, cause I've got lots of jelly! Can't wait to see what you do with them built up!

Cool, going between opti/not is going to be tough for the compressor. Guess I'll just have to build all of them!  ::)

I was actually considering an octaver as well. I've got the parts for a u-boat, maybe have to build that up.

Thanks for the input guys. I think I'm starting to get an idea of what would be a good framework.

Bacalla, that's really similar to what I was thinking for the basis ofb what I've got planned out.

Sameage, did you do your ET on vero or did you use Jacob's pcb? I noticed on his he changed the output cap to 1uf instead of the 10uf on Merlin's schematic.

Also Jimi, how haven't you commented on lectricfx's announcement they're working on the a/da final phase!? I like the idea of the bloviator in the chain. I've got a populated board I've been meaning to box up, but it's really nice just on the testing rig.

Hi folks!

So I've ventured into the world of doing my own layouts, and I've got a proto-board from oshpark on the way for an smd'ized version of MerlinB's engineer thumb on the way with the added attack and release knobs as well as the bright switch.

It was kind of disgustingly fun to make the pcb layout, and if it works I'll post it.

It got me thinking though, for a long term (no really) project I'm going to attempt an everything I need bass box. What I need is suggestions for the actual effects.

I'm thinking compressor -> dirt with a clean blend -> effects loop to add a filter (I don't use them much of bass myself) -> a modulation pedal -> EQ/preamp with direct out.

Going to try and shoot for a 1590dd or 1590d.

If my engineer's thumb layout works, I'll probably end up using that for the comp but I am tempted to go optical.

What are people's favorites for dirt and modulation? I was thinking a muff variant for the dirt, and either a chorus, flanger, or phaser for the modulation. Or possibly could go with an FV-1 to give whatever option?

Anything with preexisting projects I could reference would be appreciated as I'm new to this, but I'm going to work it in blocks I think and will post things as I go and post the final layout when everything is done. Ya know, in like a year or two :P.

Thanks!

Edit: I'll be asking for permission of and crediting every person's who's project I reference by the by.

As far as the contest goes, I think that chuckbuick came in second, the floidian slip was third, cortexturizers aqualung fourth and then (I'm more guessing now) the fuzz saw. I hope someone can confirm this.

These were the top ones and the floydian slip was lumpyliptons and the fuzz saw mine. I think it may have been lee, chucbuick, cortex, lumpy, myself. I think there were 6 prizes total? Boards for a year, $30 to 1776, THCustom, and lectricfx, and them two of $25 to jmk? If so I think Facegrinder's time machine was 6.

That sucks though Brian.
