General Questions / Re: 4:1 Compressor at 18 volts?
March 22, 2020, 12:36:10 AM
Ratings on your caps are important but you'll also need to check the datasheets for any of your active/semiconductor components as well. Transistors, ICs, etc.
I just looked at the datasheet for a TL072CP available from Mouser (they're the ones I usually stock up on) and it's max operating voltage is 36 volts. Shouldn't be an issue!
You may want to consider using a slightly higher value for the Current limiting resistor for the indicator LED too. I've built a few pedals that can run at 18v and haven't had any problems with my typical CLR/LED combos. Then again, I like to use a lot of bright/clear LEDs and typically use pretty high value CLRs to keep em from being "laser beam in the eyes" bright.
That being said, I'm not sure if the circuit will work/sound any better or worse.....
But you should be fairly safe as far as not letting any magic smoke out of the components!

I like what you did with marking the inside of the cover: "Corona #4"  I'm guessing that means it's the fourth completed project during this period of down time....?
I think I might "borrow" that idea!
Can you tell us more about the mod to get the dry signal cleaned up once the tails fade away?

I have a pair and of them and they're a lot of work. Nicely done!  I think Aion's been fiddling with doing a +9/-9vdc conversion which would be very nice to drive it with normal power. I don't want to speak for him though. My biggest issue was finding an AC power supply that didn't give it fits.

What supply did you end up using? I've got a couple of the Line 6 supplies that I think he said would work.....

Very nice, love the colors and graphics! I've always been a sucker for nice paisley patterns!

Very nice! You got that done pretty quick if it was your BOTY prize!
Did you have any issues with setup/biasing etc.? I've seen a few threads in various places where folks were running into trouble.
I have two of these on my bench right now that are both very nearly completed. I bought the boards shortly after the project was first released. Definitely been slacking on getting them done......
The enclosures are great and I was lucky enough to be paying attention at the right time to snag a couple.
Would be nice if he were to offer another batch for sale. I'd likely grab a couple more.

I got lucky yesterday while doing my normal shopping for the week. They had a few cases that were being put on the shelves so I was able to get a pack each of booty wipes and paper towels. I went to our local Chinese food joint for a carry out order later and was joking with the owner about how crazy people are acting right now. She told me that someone had stolen the TP from their bathroom in the restaurant earlier in the day!  :o

I'm going to start calling it Pangolin Flu.  It's more media friendly and marketable.  ;D

Probably not politically correct but, we've been calling it the "Kung-Flu" at my place.  ::)

I love how this turned out!
I've often considered making a bunch of pedals with Tarot themed artwork.

Just to clarify, the sale items are being discontinued.......?
And what about the boards on the Projects Page that indicate "sold out"?
Are those gone forever as well?

As stated, it's probably not too much more serious than the typical illnesses that we already have to deal with. (at least in developed areas with decent health care)
But beside that, I live in Michigan.
We have Vernor's Ginger Ale.
We use that s#!t to cure all illnesses!
(Google it)  ;D

Anybody ordered anything from them?
I found their site while searching for some aluminum enclosures. I've got everything I need to do the Epic Looper w/7 segment LED display. I ordered all the parts a few years ago but haven't gotten around to building it yet. Well, it's about damn time!
I wanted to use something a little bigger than the recommended 1032L enclosure so I can stuff a few extras in there.
This Hawk place has some really good prices (compared to Mouser) on these Hammond chassis boxes!
They have tons of stuff on their site. Not sure how much of it would apply to our typical needs/uses. I think I'll spend a little more time digging through their inventory to see if I can find any other gems....
