I don't get it why people rag on Tayda's resisters for having thin leads. I LOVE those thin leads and I always check with a DMM before soldering and have never been proven wrong. Those thin leads make for excellent jumpers on vero boards as well. Whenever I come across one of those thicker leads resistors I feel like what the hell am I supposed to with these. It's like being used to playing on a thin neck Ibanez guitar and then suddenly have to play on some old Telecaster with a thick baseball bat for a neck.
Exactly! Especially the part about the fender neck   :D

Nice. I build alot on vero but, a pcb with board mounted pots makes it much more enjoyable. Especially with 6 pots!

This can be an incredibly expensive hobby! I have over 300 bins at the moment to organize each component in. Don't really want to think about how much I have invested in all those drawers... I try and keep a list of future builds going so I can stay on top of my stock. That way I don't have to worry about missing a component. Order extra if you can because shipping gets you every time!
Ya, Radioshack does not cater to us at all. The only thing I go there for is solder.

3d printed knobs?

Lol. Are you adding provisions for a 9 volt battery in your pedal? If not, you can wire your power different and use mono jacks. Then you won't have this problem. Totally your personal preference, I don't build any pedals that can be battery powered. Just not worthwhile it in my opinion. Good luck on the rest of your build!

Sweet! The first couple of pedals I made back in grade school I put in tuna fish cans (Not much else availible on no budget!). Cramped to say the least!

I just pull one piece at a time out of the bin. Here is a fairly current picture of my bench, each item has its own bin. Even each build has its own bin if its a work in progress. Granted i've been doing this for some time, I came across a tin full of transistors the other night that I had packed away over 20 years ago! Assuming you have a little space and plan on doing this for awhile, small stack-on drawers work excellent.

A good quality dvm is well worth its price. I fortunately work in a career where I need to have a good meter (or two) So that translates well to my hobbies also. I have a $60 esi meter at home for building stuff which works ok but, I bring my fluke home quite often too. There is little comparison between the two. For $150 (maybe less used) you can pick up a new fluke meter. I don't know of anything better, pretty much an industry standard.

Build Reports / Re: Just another Fuzz Factory

Yup, I saw the Fuzz Factory 7 and decided I needed to build something similar with a window in it. It's basically a mismatch of the 5 knob and 7 knob. Thanks for the good words everyone. The screaminFx pedal is pretty sweet. I might actually attempt something like that in the future. Trying to figure out how creative I can get with my pedals! I do alot of custom fab at work, actually have a few one-off enclosures in the works, my welder is loaned out at the moment though.
So many ideas and pedals to build!

Build Reports / Just another Fuzz Factory

I order a fair amount of boxes from tayda so last order I figured I'd try one of their pcbs. The pcb was great, build document sucked (didn't show which side of the board each pot was supposed to be on) Anyway, This thing is wild! Build is pretty close to stock. I'm using a 3904/3906 combo right now but am going to audition some other transistors this week. Maybe I'll take a gut shot when I go back in there!

Lol, are you going to use glue/adhesive to hold the paper down? I don't see why not. How bout that chicken?

Thanks for the comment. Do you buy your PCB's or do you make them yourselves?
I read that I need a laser printer to print the transfer and I only have an inkjet printer.
Also I don't like the idea of using chemicals too much, so I think I will stick to vero for the time being  :)

I'm not to crazy about making my own boards either. I downloaded eagle awhile back and started drawing up schematics, It's eaisier than you might think. Then you can have oshpark or whoever make the boards for you. Just FYI
I builld on vero all the time. Nice work anyhow!

Group buy? :) Im in for 10 of them!

or if someone knows of a vero layout
I really like looking at this schematic for some reason :P , A vero layout would be great. I'll try and revisit this tommarow!

Like a 125 is to the 1590b? That would be really nice. I like building crazy fuzz pedals n such in the 1590a but if there was a little more room that would be sweet! I don't know of such a thing but I would like to!
