I'm looking to build PCB Guitar Mania's take of the Decimator - the Noise Terminator https://pcbguitarmania.com/product/noise-terminator/

the BOM calls for a THAT 2181 chip but I'm unsure what precise version of the chip I need.

My go-to parts site, Das Musikding, lists 3 versions in the correct packaging:

THAT 2181CL08-U
THAT 2181BL08-U
THAT 2181AL08-U

Ohmite makes some knobs in the size range you're looking for but they are crazy expensive and i haven't found anyone with stock, just 10 piece minimum orders to get them stocked. Maybe someones doing knock-offs of those.

I have both of these knobs which are pretty large. To illustrate, I have include a banana for scale. Note, the banana is not included. His name is Butch. Butch the Banana. We have many fun adventures hiking through the mountains on weekends. However, he does not like mountain gorillas.

They're big but they won't satisfy me I'm afraid. Appreciate the effort though of course. Thanks!

Does anyone know where I might find a knob that has a diameter of between 7cm and 8.5cm? If you work in inches that's 2.75" and 3.35".

I won't be picky about its appearance but ideally just something simple like a large version of a Boss style knob. The largest I can find is about 4.5cm.

I normally get them from Banzai in Germany but they've been out of stock for months and so I thought I'd ask you lovely lot of you know of anywhere else that sells them? I'm in need of 3 of each colour.

I'd really like the switch to be a slide type (like in my first photo) but it looks as though the only ones with a skirt are rocker switches.

Dave, your file work looks great but I really don't trust myself to get it anywhere near as neat and square as you have managed.

I want to make a pedal with a mini slide switch similar to this...


but as I can't drill rectangular holes, I need one with a 'skirt' like this...


My thinking being that the skirt will cover up my rough chain drilling.

Does anyone know where I might find something like this? I'm specifically looking for an on-on SPDT.

Thank you for all the feedback and info. There's a lot for me to get my head around but I'll give it a go for sure.

Also, since you're including LED clipping, you can replace the op amp clipping (no clipping) with another diode option if you'd prefer.

Use the same DPDT switch, but put the anti-parallel LEDs across the two center lugs so that the wires and the LED leads are connected to the same lugs. Solder your new clipping options in the spot where the LEDs were. The LEDs will always be in the circuit, but as long as the Vf of the other diode option you choose is lower than that of the LEDs (e.g., 2x1 asymmetric silicon is my favorite here), they will conduct before the LEDs do. I think that the op amp clipping is rather harsh with the Rat, so that would be my personal solution here.

I was thinking of doing a three way switch:

1 - Standard Rat with 1N4148 diodes
2 - No clipping
3 - Turbo Rat with 3mm red LEDs

Would that be doable?
