Those probe sheaths are pretty nifty!

Reminds me I need to someday get some clip style probes.

Yeah, although I will probably never use them!

I was tempted to get one that had a simple scope/waveform reader like the one used for the BOTY prize a couple of years ago. It sure would be convenient to take a quick scope probe from a multimeter. But, I decided to go with something I know will do its main job well.

My last multimeter seemed to give up the ghost. It was intermittent on voltage and continuity readings and even though I took it apart and resoldered the connectors nothing seemed to improve. So, out with the cheap DMM and back to a Klein. I don't have Fluke kind of money.

This one seems to be working well enough. I really like the reverse contrast display and the little holders for the probes!

Sorry if I'm derailing the topic more, but any chance that the BoomBoom comes back in stock?
@madbean I second this question. Both my boomboom builds flesh to new homes. They're happy there. But my @ss needs some brass.

Oh yes it will soon. The only things for sure not being restocked are some of the 1590A projects, and that's just because they are moving into the 1590B Standard Series for now. I'm going to get on the ball with restocking. Some projects need to be brought up to date but I also don't want to try and redo every project b/c that would take forever. If it has a semi-circular top on the PCB, it's getting an update.

Killer! I love guitar synths. I had a TriplePlay for a while but the pickup mount didn't work for most of my guitars. I ended up selling it when I found a VST plugin that had very good direct tracking. So, I sometime use that to control synth VSTs.

KiCad 8 is just now out. I d/l it today. I should spend some time working with it. It does have an importer for Eagle although the one schematic I tried crashed it, haha.

Welcome back!

Maybe check over at Kevin's site (AionFX). He's got some Cornish projects, but I don't know if the G2 is one of them. The other ones are worth exploring, too.

Verified 7 builds as fully ready today. I found small errors on two other projects that will require re-running those boards. Not a big deal. Just a couple dumb mistakes on my part.

Starting to work on art for Tayda UV printing (first time). Here's the 8-Ball.

And, here's my build of the Woodshed fuzz which sounds absolutely awesome!

Hey Brian, is the Collosalus coming back?

Mos def. I will get more Collosalus and Current Lover on the next order. Just deciding if I want to fully update to my latest parts library. Probably will.

On another note: I am a debugging madman! Solved a big problem on one of the new projects today. Held me up for two days.

is there any chance that i could get another set of PCB's for it?
it says "sold out" on the order page but i was just hoping that you might have an extra set.

Unfortunately, no. I don't have an ETA yet on when I will have more, although I do plan to continue to offer the project.

I'm puzzled about the lack of continuity. The trace that connects those two points on the main PCB runs along the right edge on the top layer. Here are the traces without the tPlace layer so it's more clear. So, it is possible that there could be some nick or imperfection on that trace causing the lack of continuity. I don't see any obvious damage on the PCB but it's hard to tell from one photo.

Since you were able to get bypass with a jump wire, then the next thing to do is audio probe the effect path like I mentioned earlier. This may clue us into why the signal is not getting back to the bypass switch and then the output. Other than that, maybe a quick teardown to look at the underside of the PCB for any possible solder issues, bridges, etc.

What about testing continuity from the daughter (foot switch) board to the main board?  Maybe there's a bum lead or short.
i tried that but everything tests fine, but the output jack's hot has no continuity to the stomp switch,

The three circled areas here should have continuity. If you have none from jack to switch, try checking the two spots circled on the main PCB.

by the way, i appreciate all the efforts and responses in helping me try to find the issue. i'd really like to get it working.

Sure thing. We'll get it solved. My suggestion now is to audio probe. Specifically, probe the output pins of the ICs in order according to the schematic. We need to find out where the audio signal is dropping off.

here's one:

This looks pretty correct. Couple things I cannot quite tell:

Is R10 220k? I can't make out the color bands.
Ri18 looks like it might have gotten a bit charred, but again a little hard to tell from the pic.

Can you provide a pic and some voltages?

I also hate the size constraint in Eagle, but I'm typically able to work within the confines.

I must've missed the news - Eagle is going away in 2026?

Yeah the free version has a lot of constraints like max board dimensions, part placement, layer count, etc. I can see why people are embracing KiCad and Diptrace

Sadly yeah, it's all getting rolled up into Fusion 360. From what little I've looked into it, it's somehow worse than Creative Cloud...

I had another conversation about eagle , maybe here, maybe ppcb, maybe on a irc chat where someone pointed this out: It just seems like Autodesk wasn't interested in Eagle. They just wanted to shut down a competitor, since not long after they made a multi billion offer to buy Altium Designer... they did that to SoftImage, and one other I can't remember, just to make sure Maya and 3DSMax didn't have competition. Bleh.

I'm still pissed about Softimage. Esp. since they won't even offer a legacy version to purchase a permanent license, of course. I did have an educational license for XSI 5, but I think it had a dongle.
