Camouflage.  The greatest colour you've never seen.

QuoteI like the knobs on there.  They fit well with the graphic.
Thanks.  Tayda was out of the black ones, so I went with green.  A darker green would have been nice but these are the same shade as the LEDs!

Now with knobs!

Build Reports / Re: DIY Pedalboard (Case yet to be built)
February 23, 2015, 01:24:26 PM
I've probably missed the build reports, but what are the four pedals up in the right hand corner and how did you finish them?  They look like vinyl car window sticker type things (but are probably laser etched..)

The pedalboard look great, btw.

Might be fun standing on one leg hopping up and down over it while playing guitar.

Gudday all.  Here's Ammocan, it's the usual DD enclosure with:

- 280 compressor on vero, thanks I\/Iark.  I think it works.  At least the knobs do stuff.  I also used a vactrol instead of the LED/LDR combination.
- APIS klon.  Got it already populated from someone on this board.  Sorry, cant find the thread or msgs as to who I brought it off. May have been a PIF now that I think about it.
- Madbean Egghead.

I reckon at full gain the Klon and Egghead sound pretty similar, but they stack really well.  As everyone says, using the klon as a clean boost is a good thing.

The finish is my usual etching primer, waterproof laser adhesive paper, 1k clearcoat.  The pattern is taken from the multicam website and didnt come out as dark as it was supposed to.  I'd done multiple attempts at finishing with photopaper and t-shirt transfers but I'd ended up sanding it bare a number of times.  The 1k goes yellowish if not careful... like this time.

Anyway, it's as neat as I can do... knobs are coming.

I've never used a 3pdt board or solid core wire.  With the number of multis I seem to (and want to) build it really looks like that's the next step towards neat guts.

Never breadboarded either.  I can just about guarantee that I won't be putting anything in a 1590a any time soon either.

General Questions / Re: Got a favorite 3PDT Footswitch?

I got some similar ones off ebay.  Not minis, but none more black - and the lug holes are nearly too narrow to fit tinned wire through.

Open Discussion / Re: One way ticket to Mars
February 18, 2015, 03:03:42 AM
Why should we go to Mars?  Ideally, because we can.  It would be nice to say we don't need a new home, or no one wants to make money out of it, but that's not really the case.  Lets just go for the hell of it and see what we can do and learn.

I'm no Greenie Hippie Conservationist, but truthfully though, I look around at the madness around me and it brings me down.  We basically strip mine the ocean of fish to grind them into food for "sustainable" fish farming...  The governments are selling off their stores of Helium so we can have nice balloons, but Helium is non-renewable and is nearly essential for cooling important medical equipment.  How much energy does it take, and how much dirt must be dug up to make a "green" car.  How are we going to supply the energy to charge an electric car?  How are we going to get the resources to build solar panels?

The ocean is broken.  Trillons of plastic beads used in skin care product populate the water.  Rubbish fills the pacific.  Radioactive effluent has made it from Japan to the US.  Shipping containers regularly fall off the boats...

Soylent Green, here we come.

Lets face it.  We've fucked it.

TANSTAAFL ladies and gents, TANSTAAFL.

QuoteThe single most important invention since has been the internet, which should have been a way for the best and brightest to communicate more successfully

And, the single thing that is responsible for its growth... Porn.  Followed closely by piracy.  People used to think that the internet would collapse under the traffic flowing through it, but failed to realise that the industry would just build bigger and better pipes.  Not complaining too much, I like looking at beautiful naked women as much as the next guy.

If you'd seen my workspace and work practices in building pedals and pedalboards, you'd be surprised that I can still count to 20...

QuoteWhat about a Dremel with a round cutting disc? Nobody's brought it up yet....

Having used a dremel type tool once to grind out part of a DD enclosure, I never want to use one again.  I say if Chromo can find something to just go "chop, chop, chop, done", go for it.

Well, I'm probably going to try a black marker next time...

Tubes are ok if you're ordering 10 pcs of pt2399 or 4558, but if it's one offs, a bit of antistatic foam in a ziplock bag makes me happy.

At first I thought it was Cyberswine... had to look a lot closer though.

Played a lot of D3D multiplayer back in the day...

Got another DD enclosure I'm sanding down for the umpteenth time after applying stickers and buggering the finish.
