Open Discussion / Ace Tone EH-50
January 02, 2023, 04:00:03 AM
I recently got a vintage Ace Tone EH-50 analog delay for cheap. It utiizes 6 SAD1024 BBD chips to achieve a 200ms delay time. I'm planning to pull the 6 SAD1024 chips to repair my Morley flanger and MXR 117 flanger and to build some delicious chorus/flanger projects! My question is can I retrofit MN3007 with the SAD1024 just like what they did with the EHX small stone?...so that the Ace Tone EH-50 can function again as intended...with longer delay time I suppose. Asking the madbeaner experts here!!! tia

Tech Help - Projects Page / Charlatan vs The Worm
March 09, 2022, 04:27:21 AM
So glad the Charlatan finally released. I checked the docs to see if there's a mod to lessen the noise..especially on the wah mode, but the mods are for distortion issue and ampere consumption. Hey Brian...i'd like to know if your Charlatan build is quiet vs the orig the Worm?...if so, does implementing a different power supply circuit contributes to lessen the noise? On my The Worm unit, i replaced the regulator 15v to 12v...it does lessen a little bit the noise..but i noticed the range control is somewhat affected, at max it seems you turn it back a little. tia

Interesting build as always by Juansolo...did you use radio button type switching on the PS1A build?

Tech Help - Projects Page / Setback max delay time
January 22, 2022, 03:06:59 AM
Rocking before boxing the Setback delay...it's working 100%...so clean compared to my DOD fx90...no clock noise/whining on the delay signal...can I still extend the delay time by changing a higher value to R40(2.2M)?
I'm running the Setback at 12vdc with a buck converter. tia

May I know the actual pcb dimension of the Setback. tia.

Dual buffer or dual boost...one can be use before and the other after the chain or a pedal.

...I think the LAG control is the 220K resistor between the depth control and Q4 (CE2 schematic)...the Caesar chorus substituted a 250K potentiometer as the LAG control..if i'm not mistaken.

I simply connected the 2 wires from the momentary stomp sw to the tact sw on the pcb...I did not remove the tact sw...just identify the 2 correct terminals (it has 4 terminals) of the tact sw, the ones that are normally open and connect when depressed.
