A tip when cutting (or filing) screws is to do so with the nut already on an fully threaded.  When you are done cutting backing out/off the screw will ensure that the threads still align and retain their proper shape

Should have explained:

I was thinking that a Light plate would have the middle removed leaving only the edges/sides so it would add some desired depth.

What about a card game that is fun for the whole family to play?  It doesn't use batteries or need to be charged,  my 5 year old daughter loves to play WaterWorks and is constantly challenging me to a game.
