Hey All:

I just bought the "Continental" PNP germanium transistors off small bear. I'm trying to be extra careful with this build. Does the red dot on the side of the transistor mean emitter or collector?

Thanks so much,
George

Scruffie

Red dot usually indicates collector, I can't think of examples where it doesn't.
Works at Lectric-FX

If you have the OC140 (or CV7112) transistors then red dot is C

EDIT: Scruffie beat me to the punch

Right on. Thanks for the responses. Huge help!

Does anyone know if the germanium diode that Small Bear includes with the continental PNP transistors will work as a replacement for the 1n34a diode in the Bumblebee build?

Thanks!
George

Yes, you can use the diode from Smallbear. Any germanium type works there, it stabilizes the bias of Q3 so it won't make any difference in tone.
