I've found the idea of the upcoming Star Wars trilogy to be a bit polarizing. I'm just going to say for the record that I'm still excited about this! This is how I was hoping Star Wars would look. Now let's hope they nail the story.

Yes, there is a lens flare. Sorry about that.

The teaser is AWESOME. I love how the first shot tells how much this is not going to be like the prequels. It just looks like a lot of fun.

Gotta love computers. When I go to click on the trailer, it says I need quicktime to play it. When I go to download quicktime, it says I already have the latest version installed. How about "The programmers awaken" for a new approach to technology?
Yep. I clicked the, "continue without supporting us" link....

Haha. I'm pretty sure it's up on YouTube too, although the quality probably sucks.

the teaser is pretty nice! I expected bad stuff, but it is actually cool stuff going on. I don't see how the cross shaped lightsaber would be an improvement over the regular one, but I definitely see the appeal ;)

^ this.

Looks pretty good to me, and frankly they would be hard-pressed to do worse than some of what was in the prequels (even though there are parts of those I really  like).

I have to admit, I liked all of the movies so far. Ok, episode 1 has annoying parts, but some of it was actually not so bad. Episode 2&3 were packed with effects and fights, which I enjoyed a lot. And of course 4-6 has this 80s charme that is irresistible.
So I guess, I will probably like the new ones too :)

:-\ TBH, they're going to have to have a lot of work to do to A, get past the bad taste of Episode One (Anakin was so "cute" I nearly walked out there and then, I can't stand "cute" kids) and B, get past the feeling that it's YET another Star Wars cash-in. We've had how many goddamn video games and books now?

Ep III could have been great if it had just laid out how Anakin knew he was betrayed immediately by Sidious after he 'disarmed' Mace Windu.  He thought the Chancellor was going on trial and ending the fight would allow him to learn Sidious's secrets at the Temple.  instead Sidious bluffed Windu and Anakin and lightninged the crap our of Windu.  Anakin did not intend to join Sidious, but then had no other way to go.  If he did not kneel Sidious would kill him.  Anakin loved himself too much for that.
The movie was hampered by not explaining Anakin's dark side turn well enough.  He went from stopping a murderous execution to murdering children pretty quickly.
I hold out hope for the new ones.

I got pretty excited with the Millennium Falcon shot, but...that cross-shaped lightsaber is just dumb. Honestly, what good is that thing supposed to do? If you're holding that and you move your thumb too far in the wrong direction, no more thumb for you!

I had the same issue, I think this is it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OMOVFvcNfvE
Thanks for the link, never could get the "official" link to play.

Initial reaction:  I think production studios have gotten really lazy with CGI. It sticks out like a sore thumb, especially now that real actors and sets are filmed in high definition, and we're watching it at super high resolutions. CGI these days has a cut-and-pasted look. I wonder what happened, because you look at the CGI in a movie like Forrest Gump from 1994!!, and it was pretty seamless, and done very well on old computers. These days it's like they just grab the "robot object" or the "animal object" and mouse it over into the movie without even trying to match shading and lighting or the color palette.

Keep in mind that the CGI used in trailers is almost never what you'll see as the finished product in the actual movie. But yeah, 90% of it looks like crap these days. It's as if film peaked with Jurassic Park in '93. Digital colour correction is even worse. Even when movies are pretty good, I have a hard time watching all the fake looking colour schemes. Especially when they make everything washed out or dark so it can have 'atmosphere', but you can't see half of what's going on. At least this trailer looked nice and clear.

Looks good to me.

I say bring it on.

I'm not a Trekkie, but jj Abrams made even that watchable!
