from my experience with this circuit ive had to put a 100k resistor from the output to ground to avoid switch pop, noticed the schematic doesn't have this.

Pulldown at the output is contained via the volume trimmer.

Been a very long time since there's been an EP release. Here's a simple overdrive I worked up for a DIYSB challenge. Very easy to build. Or, even breadboard (my experience so far with the circuit).

Chaod (CheapAssOverdrive)

So many possibilities. Interesting...No tone pot, I guess you can adjust C6 to taste?
Pedal building is like the opposite of sex.  All the fun stuff happens before you get in the box.

C4 will have the most effect on tone roll off. C3 and C6 will have the most effect on clipping frequency threshold and total low end (resp).

I do plan on working up a variation for bass on this at some point.

I see, my brain was thinking the loop in 1C1B. Thank you sir.

One more new Ep project: the Maglev. Based on the Keeley Magnetic Echo. Lots of optional mods included.

New version of the CaveDweller that uses dynamic modulation!

What a great guitar sound.  Is that the Danno?  It veers into almost Chet Atkins electric classical territory.

How loud is too loud?  What?

That demo sounds awesome! The modulation particularly sounds great - sorry if it's been covered in another thread but will that be incorporated in one of the new PT2399 I noticed on the Projects page?

TY. It is the Dano. Middle position, Drop D. I am really in love with that guitar!

The new mbp project (Degenerator) uses a totally different method for envelope driven modulation. It does require a few more parts but it's really sweet sounding. One small advantage is that it does not require an additional switch to turn off the modulation. So, there's that. But, both a great projects. I've still got the CD2022 on my big breadboard.

Man, I really like the cave dweller, I need to get on that one:

How is that dynamic modulation in the EP CaveDweller working? I feel like I'm missing something obvious, but it's not apparent to me.

Hi.

I built the original Cave Dweller and skipped the Cave Dweller 2015, so I was really happy to see the new 2022 configuration. I hope you don't mind, but I've converted the schematic into a Vero layout for my own nefarious purposes, even though I was doubtful about pushing the voltage limit on the PT2399 above 5v. It works, though.

After building I thought it was a bit dark, so decided to use the various suggestions (change the 100K modulation resistor to 47K, change the cap in the op-amp across pins 13/14 of the PT2399 to 2n2, remove the 22n to ground for brighter repeats) to brighten it up, and I quite like it.

The MPF102's can be hard to source so I was thinking, since it's essentially a unity-buffer in a sort of cathode-follower configuration, the circuit could probably be reconfigured to use a MOSFET (BS170, say) instead, which is a LOT easier to source, but I haven't built that version yet because the pinouts are different and there's another resistor from gate to +9v to add, etc. I've got a Vero for that, too, though, if anyone wants to try it.

If it's OK, @madbean, I can post the Vero layouts, but I don't want to dilute your great work.
