I've had an idea for a multi with 4 effects in one box.  I'll only be using one effect at a time is it possible to use a 1776 opto-tron to turn the effect on and a rotary to select which of the four I want to use?  I've had a search on the forum and can't find really find anything.

A 2P4T would do it. You'd wire your effect input and output from the bypass switch to the two poles, then the circuit input and outputs to their corresponding terminals on the rotary.

Excellent thanks Brian that makes sense.

if you use a 3p4t you can have LEDs indicating which effect is selected too, if you want

Interesting I hadn't thought of having leds to indicate which one was on.
