I put together a SSBS Sparkle Motion board that I etched from here... https://effectslayouts.blogspot.com/2017/05/smallsoundbigsound-sparkle-motion.html#comment-form

However, the 10R keeps burning up when I plug it into 9V. I used a DMM to confirm that there are no ground faults, and continuity for all the pads seems good too. The diode and both electrolytic caps are properly oriented. Anybody know what might be going on here?

Original schematic for reference... http://smallsoundbigsound.blogspot.com/2011/05/sparkle-motion-schematic-and-updates.html

You could try using a higher wattage resistor or a higher value like 47 or 100Ω... or just jump that resistor.

Exactly. Use either 1/2W or 1W for the 10R or just go up to 100R 1/4W. It's pulling too much current for the 10R 1/4W which is causing it to overheat. The 100R also gives you a low pass with the 100uF and 100n to help roll off any PS noise over 15Hz.

Sometimes I doubt your commitment to Sparkle Motion!

Perhaps one of these values might help:

1/4W 100R resistor did the trick!
Also, a 2N1308 tranny sounds excellent in this circuit :)

Thanks everyone!
