VFE switchboard bypass looper
« on: January 10, 2019, 07:56:30 PM »
Is it possible to wire a few of the VFE switching boards together in series for a true bypass looper? What would that circuit look like? Thanks for any help. Sorry if this is an obviously dumb question, Iíve only recently moved up from noob to greenhorn.

It's not a good choice for a bypass looper. Not because the switching is inadequate in any way, but because it includes much more than you actually need to do the job (all the power tuff used to supply the VFE audio boards). For a bypass looper, do the CODA bypass. You can find an etchable layout in the Etcher's Paradise.

Bean is correct. How many loops do you need? I might be able help to prototype in Eagle

Thanks! The CODA boards are exactly what I was looking for. I have a couple follow up questions:

Can an A/B switcher (1in2out)  circuit be wired using the CODA pcb’s? Would it be a matter of programming the IC differently?

Secondly, I’ve never had a pcb made for me. How do I go about doing something like that? Maybe Osh park ?

Thanks for all the help. This site is such a great resource.

Thanks for the offer! I’m wanting 5 loops and an a/b switch. The momentary/latching mode switch from the CODA design is interesting, something I had t bought about.

Eagle is a design tools think, right? That’s the next level. Just making circuits from scratch. So cool. Thanks for any help if you have time.

I would just ask the man himself. He's a long standing member here and Benoit might be able to accommodate your request. Or contact through his website: https://www.coda-effects.com/

As far as an A/B switcher, you don't need to modify the code at all. A bypass switcher is already an A/B switcher. The only difference might be if you need to ground the unused channel for both A and B. In the Etcher's Paradise layout for the Coda, I did it with the effect input grounded on bypass. But, obviously you don't ground your guitar input ever :) Still, there might be a way to optimize for A/B - ask Benoit. He's probably thought about it already.
