hi all,

i built the flintlock flanger using the 1.2 instructions, but my board says v1.3.

i can't get it to flange al all. clean signal works fine. got my bbd from smallbear so should be fine.

anyone else built a v 1.3 board and have it work fine?

thanks, ulysses

Going to need some more info to help.

Pictures of the board are a good place to start. Are you sure you have the switch and grounds set up properly?

You may also want to check circuit voltages, make sure your juice is getting where it needs to.

Here are some tips: http://www.madbeanpedals.com/forum/index.php?topic=902.0

thx for your reply ;)

i have soldered in the odd/even switch -- is that the one you mean? ive not boxed it up yet so no 3pdt switch yet.

i have the jack grounds wired up to one of the ground points on the board.

i have attached a pic of the board. C36 is on the underside of the board.

here are my voltages -- thx

i did an audio probe on the MN3007

1. silence
2. a whining that modulates, presumably the oscillator. the front controls affect it's speed and depth etc
3. the sine wave i sent to "in" is heard
4. silence
5. silence
6. a whining that modulates, presumably the oscillator. the front controls affect it's speed and depth etc
7. silence
8. silence

are we sure the 1.3 board is verified? are there instructions specifically for the 1.3 board?

thanks :)

Scruffie

IIRC the only change from 1.2 to 1.3 was making the DC Jack cut out a little bigger.

Well you've determined the 4049 is pulling the voltage down and pins 5 & 12 are wrong so, look for bad joints etc and if you have a spare, try that, it's a CMOS chip so it is static sensitive.

thx scruffie

any chance you could send me a full voltages list?

CD4049UBE, pins 5+15 look low. maybe my 4049 is screwed.

you said my pin 12 on the CD4049UBE looks wrong -- did you mean pin 15?

thx

Sorry, yes I meant pin 15.

Afraid I don't have a confirmed one to hand but your voltages look in range apart from that and as it's needed to have the BBD function and is pulling the voltage down, seems it's the likely issue.

thx again for your reply scruffie

yeah it was a faulty 4049 :(

replaced it and we're flanging away.

thx for your assistance.

cheers, ulysses
