Title: 1590a compressor options.
Post by: matmosphere on November 24, 2018, 05:10:46 PM
I know brian has the afterlife, which is on the build list, but I need to put together a small comp really quick. Has anybody used the mictester really cheap compressor? Is it worth using, or should I just hold out and do a afterlife?

Any other options worth looking at?

The really cheap compressor is a great project and you can find an etchable PCB for it in the Etcher's Paradise.

I have two if you are interested.

There is the Clairvoyant comp, this one is like a Dynacomp with a blend and tone controls.  I have a build report for it here:

I also have a Patina Comp, which is more like the Keeley 4-knob comp.

Let me know if either of those interest you.

I used Mictestor's RCC in my Random Stranger bass multi.  Seems to work ok.

Does it really, really, really have to be 1590A?  Can't say enough nice things about the 4:1.

The 4:1 is definitely the way to go, best comp I've ever used.
