Is that a waterslide?  Laser or inkjet?

Damn, I've missed out on stocking up on the DD enclosures!

The local Jaycar can be limited in the shafts they have too.  You might end up with 50mm long if you leave it to them to supply (has happened to me on multiple occasions when I've dropped in and placed an order..)

Pedalpartsaustralia pretty much had the biggest and cheapest selection of enclosures online in Australia as far as I could see.  I'm going to miss them.

I was getting great looking results with waterslide, but the edges would always curl up away from the enclosure as it dried, and before I could safely clear coat it.  I'm assuming that was from the glue getting dissolved in the original soaking process, but it didn't seen to matter if the decal was curving down the sides or smaller than the top and completely flat.

Any suggestions?

QuoteI've never bothered to watch ANY Uwe Boll movie. I work on an assumption that they're a massive tax dodge for his investors.

That's all true I'd say, but the Postal movie is ... Dunno how to describe it... Very satirical, and very funny.  I loved it personally.

QuoteBlood Rayne 1

I agree, BR1 was a fun game.  Just a FUN game.  No massive pretensions of anything, just some cool ideas well executed.  I also agree that BR2 wasn't as good.  Couldn't get into it.

The Blood Rayne movie... well... that was a Uwe Bolle effort.  Probably a little above his normal output but not as good as Postal (which was pretty damn funny actually).

Returned to PlagueInc.  The zombie necrovirus is proving difficult to exterminate humanity with.

Open Discussion / Ebay 3pdt..
July 01, 2016, 04:32:51 PM
I was certain I ordered a bulk of 10 footswitches off ebay ages ago.  Last time I did that they took a month or so to arrive, but when this lot seem to be taking their time I checked my ebay (both .com and .com.au) and couldn't find the order. Mustn't have actually done it...

I feel for you guys in the U.K., and also for the guys in the US.

What a mess. At least the discussion here is reasonable and carefully expressed. Nothing makes me want to face palm more than reading the comments on a Facebook thread.

In slightly similar but different news, Australia has a federal election this Saturday. I've already done an absent vote for whatever reason, but there isn't a single party or candidate that is worth voting for in the lower house. The senate has a couple, but it's chockablock with racists, anti vaxxers, and special interest groups with an extremely narrow set of interests.

Double sided foam tape works great too, keeps them a little firmer in place too when you're tightening the nuts.

Open Discussion / Egnater pedals - overlooked gems?
June 25, 2016, 07:58:50 AM
It turns out that Mr Bruce Egnater himself is in the DIY STOMPBOXES (unofficial) facebook group I'm in.  He answers a lot of questions about design and whatnot, but recently he asked if anyone has ever played the Egnater pedals (the Goldsmith, Silversmith, and Blackmetal).

I hadn't even heard of them.  I think they've only been out a year or so, but the functionality looks fantastic - some really useful features.  Haven't tried them, but they have all the things I've been (all of us?) thinking about putting in pedals like loops, effect order switches et al.  He just designs for the company these days and has nothing to do with the business side AFAIC.

Check them out, very interesting.  Only posting because it seems like something we'd all be interested in.  No commercial benefit for me.

General Questions / Re: Rolling your own vactrol
June 24, 2016, 04:11:00 PM
It means you can test it in a room with the lights on.  An LDR is sensitive enough in a darkened room that flickering from the TV in a room with the lights off can set it going so you pretty much need to mount it up and close the box to test it.

IU've rolled my own in the past.  Just push the LED into shirnk wrap from one end, and the LDR in from the other.  Shrink the wrap.  i don't think i bothered sealing the ends as I had enough overhang.  Vactrols are way easier.

Tech Help - Projects Page / Re: Hipster not working
June 16, 2016, 03:13:28 PM
You need a 1k reverse log pot IIRC for the gain on the Hipster.  If you got the right one from Tayda, it'll be marked 1kC.  It has a different taper curve that should fix the bunching up.

Use the 470pf capacitor too if you have squeal.  I tried the stock value and worked my way through the suggestions in the build doc, but really, 470p killed it dead and nothing under that did...
