Assuming either outside is 1 and the middle is 2,  right?

Making an engineers thumb on vero.

There are two wires for the switch. My switch has three posts. Which do I solder to?

Thanks. Ad

Storyboardist, a member here, has an incredible blogsite with more layouts than you can shake a stick at.
http://effectslayouts.blogspot.co.uk/

Exactly, I've been using more and more off his site. They are great. Start with a boost, or something simple like that. I'm alternating my builds with this and stripboard.

So when I'm building from these layouts, do I just make all the dark black line connections with solder? Sorry if that's a silly question....

Looking for some tutorials taking me through schematics and converting them to vero.

Anyone know of any? maybe a series that starts with something easy and works its way up to somethinig more complex. Thanks in advance. ad

Plenty of stuff can be made with perfboard, even vero layouts if you're willing to make all the connections.

Whats the best way to make the connections? wire? solder? unicorn tears?

Bought some vero online, this is different looking than the stuff I've seen. The holes seem to be discrete and not connected, can I build with these? Should I get something else?

I'm sure you all try out your pedals before you seal em up.  ;)

How do I ground it before I put it in the box? When I'm trying it, I can get sound out, but a ton of buzzing.....

General Questions / Desoldering Iron?
February 14, 2017, 01:49:32 PM
I had to go into a project and desolder about 10 resistors, it was a huge pain, and I managed to mangle a few pieces and it was all-in-all a bad time.

I have solder wick and a solder sucker, but for some of the solders, it was a bear to get the iron and the solder sucker in there. I have seen some desoldering irons with a vacuum pump or bulb on them and wondered if that would make my job easier....And make salvaging parts from other electronics a breeze...

Anyone have a recommendation for a decent, inexpensive (I figure around 100 would be worth it) solution for a vacuum desolderer?

yep, that was my problem....

Just finished building the Green Pony. I get the LED status light to turn on when plugged in and sound through the pedal when bypassed, but when activated -- no sound.

I checked over my solders, and loose cables, all is good there. I tried it without the back on, and the back isn't the issue.

When i flip the toggle for the clipping toggle, the LEDs do not light up.

The IC chip for the charge pump looked like it wasn't seated, so I checked to see if it was and it was super hot. Finger burningly hot.

The instructions for the build do not have any instructions for seating the IC chips, but I looked at the picture and figured it out, I think. http://byocelectronics.com/greenponyinstructions.pdf

Should that charge pump IC be super hot?

I will be testing for continuity later today and see if there is anything else that might be the culprit.

Any other ideas?

General Questions / Waterslide Laser decals?
February 08, 2017, 06:39:12 PM
Anyone using laser compatible waterslide labels?

Reviews are all over the place, don't want to fudge up my expensive laser printer..... (Printer does have a labels setting)

Any recommended brands?

I think i would like to take a try at vero board building. Ive done a few PCB kits, and this would be my first wade into the deeper build end of things....

I found a circuit that I used to have (Menatone Blue Collar) and liked a lot.

This will be my first vero build, so please bear with me....

1. Where is a good place to buy vero and resistors and caps and IC's?

2. I think I understand the drilling (reverse the schematic and drill out the red squares), am I right?

3. For the links, the black bars are the steel wire, they get soldered at the blue dots. (on the front of the circuit)

4. For the pots, the 1.2.3 refer to the lugs on the pots (I assume) which one is 1 (I assume 2 is the middle one)?

5. I see one wire for input, which lug does that go to on the jack (will be using mono jacks)?

6. I see one wire for power (will be using DC power) this is the positive, right?

7. Where do I wire up the footswitch?

8. Where is the output?

Sorry to be Jimmy McQuestions here.... Much obliged, and thanks in advance.

How Do I? Beginner's Paradise. / Double Effects How To?
February 05, 2017, 09:13:25 PM
If I wanted to make a double effect box, kind of like a fly rig, is it as easy as wiring the out of effect 1 to the in of effect 2? Are there any tutorials/walkthoughs of building something like this?
