Open Discussion / Re: WIMA caps at Tayda?

In my opinion if you are making a pedal to sell on a smaller scale, like most of us would, then using parts that are unquestionably decent quality is the only thing that makes sense.

I haven't had any tayda parts fail on me but if something fails on a person build it's no biggie I just fix it. If something fails on a customers build it's a lot more trouble and it doesn't look good for the builder.

Has anyone actually had a cap or a resistor work and then "fail"?

I have had TONS of ICs not work off the bat though. Don't know if I bought junk ones or just mishandled them but I've had so many broken builds that were fixed by just swapping the ICs that it's one of the first things I'll do while troubleshooting.

I like them all but the Double Ganger is awesome!

Hops extract? I thought dried hops were the alternative to fresh.

Build Reports / Re: Dimension-C in a 1590B

In the build docs for the aion Blueshift (Dimension-C clone), Kevin provides the following advice, almost as a warning:
Quote4.  YOU'VE GOT TO BUILD IT  AS IT WAS INTENDED:  I approached the project as though I was designing a completed product for market. Everything has been designed to be built using methods you'd see in a high-end pedal (for instance, PCB-mounted switches, a standoff for mounting stability, and components with specific sizes and characteristics).... We all build pedals in our own style, but with this one, if you try to "freestyle" by doing your own enclosure layout or using parts other than the ones specified, you might back yourself into a corner. Please do things my way—you'll end up with a very professional and durable end product and you might even learn a few things in the process!

The fact that I've decided to largely ignore this advice should not be viewed as any form of disrespect for Kevin, his design, or any of you who have already posted builds of this circuit.   :)
Instead, think of this as evidence that I really like 1590B enclosures and I'm possibly insane.   :P

That`s ok. He told me not to build the Cerulean with a 4 pole switch to change it from a Bluesbreaker to a Morning Glory (In the same enclosure as a cirrus with a rotary switch for all the different signal path options and a toggle for different filter slopes) and I ignored him. I don`t think he`s offended. I`m sure he understands some of us are just crazy  :o

I took Aderall (a pill from my friend's prescription) once. It was one of the best experiences of my life. That is why I have never taken it again and would only recommend it as a last resort.

Wow, I stand corrected on that one. Im just jealous I cant try so many of beers that people rave about online, so I blame the LCBO.

However, just looking at the first page of many reviews of the Alchemist Heady Topper on ratebeer I see reviewers from U.K., Norway and Poland, so these people must be getting it there somehow, unless they all visited the brewery.

When look at reviews for some of the most acclaimed US craft beers and then taste local Ontario craft beer I kind of feel like Im missing something. I may be wrong but it seems like some lackluster stuff gets a free pass due to local hipster cred and because its easy to beat the coors light and budweiser most people drink.

That could just be my palate though. A lot of it is milder stuff that seems to be made to appeal to people who are moving up from Coors and the like. I like my beer beefy and well balanced. Maybe Im just fussy. I happen to be enjoying an IPA from Hamilton at the moment though  ;)

I love me a good IPA. Thankfully craft beer is starting to get more popular in France. Still too expensive. Costs much more than when I lived in the US. But at least I can find a few good beers at the grocery stores other than known Belgian beers.

Sometimes they get too French about it, "this pairs well with this or that cheese", "sublime with fois gras", etc.

I`m a recovering IPA hater, so I`m just starting to appreciate craft beer more (since IPA seems to be the only beer that the craft scene does pretty consistently well) Don`t be too hard on me though, because I live in Ontario where all alcohol sales are controlled by the government so my access to world class craft beer is restricted in favour of being force fed our local product. The Alchemist? Three Floyds? Dogfish Head? Forget it! Its all about local stuff here.

Anyways, the reason I am replying to you is because getting known Belgian beers at the grocery store sounds like a dream come true! I still think known Belgian beers are the best in the world (that I`ve tried at least).

I love Lindybeige, but am I just crazy or does he seem to be trying a little too hard to be upbeat and entertaining since he started putting those annoying product placements in his videos?

It may be just me, because I do find those plugs quite irritating.

Anyway, I watched the video you are talking about but I only vaguely remember hearing something up the germanium. Maybe I'll have to watch it again.

The only thing I can think of is when you are in the print preview make sure the box "actual size" is selected.

Absolutely stunning artwork! Deserves WAY better than those fugly ass knobs.

Edit: I hope that comes across more as a praise of your artworks than a criticism of your taste  ;)

I've been using "Can't be arsed" for years and I've never set foot outside Canada and a few northern states. I blame the internet.
