Title: May release schedule
Post by: madbean on May 05, 2022, 12:05:06 AM
Since the April releases did so well I've had a few $$ to push through more projects for May. Here's what to expect (probably the 3rd or 4th week of this month):

Collosalus 2022: MXR Flanger - Improved 1590BB 4-layer PCB.
IMP 2022: Klon - new 1590B 4-layer PCB.
Impulse Power: Boss OS-2 - 125B.
Oracle: Boss CS-3 - 125B. (fantastic compressor)
Tourbus: EHX Memory Man PGE (positive ground edition) - 125B 4-layer PCB.

Projects are starting to get much shorter turnaround times so I hope to keep this momentum going through the summer with monthly releases.

Does that mean you're going to start a PCB of the month club where we get new boards shipped out regularly? Can't wait for the Tourbus.

I dunno, I kind of like the subscription model. Maybe gives you a bit more capital to move forward on boards?

That's a double edged sword though. That's a lot for one person to keep up with while designing other projects and keeping everything stocked. That has the potential of being a full time job. I'm and of itself.

Yeah, that and the OS-2 will be day one purchases for me.

^Great projects MB!  Just those releases would make for a very nice and flexible pedalboard.   ;)

IMP 2022 all boxed up. This is a very easy build (esp. compared to the 1590A version).

Project docs are going up and will continue throughout the week. Shooting for a Saturday or Sunday release.

I hit a major snag on the IMP2022. Even though it was built, boxed and sounding just fine when I got down to taking voltage measurements I found DC at the input which absolutely should not be there. I've spent hours trying to figure out what's going on. Removed, replaced parts, built a second board, even removed silk screen to expose traces. I simply can't find the fault or source of the DC. This is a major bummer since these boards were expensive and I've already invested a lot of time into it. But, such is the life of developing and releasing products as a sole proprietor. Maybe I'll be able to figure it out in the next few days, or maybe it will get shelved:( I did skip the prototying stage for this and went straight to production. I felt safe doing so since it's a proven project. Perhaps that was a big mistake.

Hopefully simple problem to solve that's staring right at you.  Better yet, one that doesn't require a board rev.

I'll have to set the release back a couple more days. Unfortunately I've been having some migraine issues the last two days and it's making getting tasks done very difficult. I set the release to the 5th, but I may be able to get it done by Friday. Just depends on how I feel tomorrow. Thanks for you patience, guys.

Also, I posted the contents of the Tourbus Bonus pack on the Store page. And, I was able to reduce the cost a bit from what I first estimated.

I know all too well what it's like to deal with migraines, take your time Brian and take care of yourself because we aren't going anywhere.

Projects are now released. I'll have to come back to the Imp and Impulse Power at a later time. Everything else is available.

Just ordered!  8)

I took a quick look at the Collosalus and Tourbus docs.  Hat's off to you MB!  There's really a lot of good stuff in there.

Also, couldn't deal with it the last couple of days but I will do my best to get a short demo of each up soon. I've got a family obligation Thurs-Mon so I'll try to do it before that or right after if I can't. I really want a good demo of the Tourbus. When I do the neg. ground version in a couple months I'll do a comparison video of all three DMM projects (Troubus PGE, NGE, Total Recall) just for fun.

Looking forward to the demo Brian. Other than being negative ground, are there any differences between the two tour buses? Hope you feel better.

Yes, the goal is 9v operation w/ charge pump. There will be a few parts differences but not that many. Same basic footprint and layout. I haven't ordered the prototype boards yet so still remains to be seen if my design is correct.

I might be building both...I feel like I have to. I don't know why, but I wanna know if there is a difference, probably not though lol

My goal will be to adequately demonstrate any differences between them so builders can decide which is the best version to build for themselves. As much as I love to sell PCBs, these are expensive to build so I think it's best to just show rather than tell what might be the "best sounding" (even though that's pretty subjective) to make an informed choice.

I feel you Brian, but you'll likely get my money twice because it's an EHX pedal, It's a freakin DMM and I already bought the positive ground version because I couldn't wait lol

Heck yes. I always go to YouTube to hear what a pedal sounds like.

Yeah that thing looks like a great idea.

Ever since I helped my kid with an arduous project I've been thinking of doing something like that but with the jacks and dc jack straight onboard. Might fit, but not with anything else on there too.
