Open Discussion / Re: Does anyone own a Dracarys pedal?

I had one and it sounded just like my Triple Wreck, but with the range on most of the knobs reduced. Less bass, highs, and gain range. I preferred the extra-ness of the triple wreck. The layout looks pretty similar, it looks like they might have just tweaked the TW for a specific guitarists' tone.

I play bass and my go-to fuzz is my build of the blackout musket fuzz. The 3 extra controls are super useful and it can still be dialed in stock green russian.

Interesting, I played one on guitar once and didn't love it, but never tried it on bass. Thanks for the heads up, I'll take a look.

I like to add blend control on my bass dirt.  GuitarPCB has a buff-and-blend add on circuit that I have used.  I'm on the search for a better design, though.  It blends unity dry signal in with your overdriven signal, so, if you have a lot of gain the blend is less useful.

I think if it was for me I'd be all about that, but for this guy... he plays pretty hardcore stuff, I don't think he would use it
If he plays heavy stuff then I double recommend the Musket. The extra gain stage and focus control are what makes it such a beast for me.

I do too. Though I have yet to find a blend utility that does what I want with a muff due to that unity dry signal.

Pedalhacker sells tested germaniums when they have them. Your best value is to buy bulk transistors and a tester and sort your own. It will pay for itself over paying testing fees in just a couple of pedals and you will have more transistors than you will know what to do with. Hint: the culls can usually be used as germanium diodes.

Love this one. Such a meaty phaser. I built a couple of these and replaced the internal overdrive with DAM Meatheads for more intense fuzz/phase.

Requests / Re: Krypton Phaser
May 27, 2021, 05:28:01 PM
Below are Madbean's directions for setting the trimmers. i've built a lot of Kryptons and they all sounded the best with the trimmers at noon.
As far as the LED, I always did an footswitch mounted LED, so I'm not even sure what the dual one does. It could be a combo On/rate indicator, or a On/Off indicator.

"- T1 sets the swing from light to dark on D2. CCW is full depth and it gets more shallow as you go clockwise.
- T2 sets the maximum brightness. CCW is full brightness and the LED will dim as you turn it clockwise.
While I could write many words on calibration it's much easier to just do it. Set your Depth at max, Rate about halfway
and adjust trimmers to taste to get the best phase sweep you can. Now test those settings at the slowest and fastest Rate
settings. Tweak the trimmers to taste to get the best response possible over the full range of the Rate knob. Do all this
with your light shield covering the LDRs! Tip: The 1st half of T1 tends to be way too much and actually makes the phaser
sweep sound doubled up (or maybe 'ghosted' is a better word).
For my build, I set both trimmers halfway. Feel free to use that as a starting point."

3k in this instance is less than 5% off. Certainly within the tolerances of the original parts. You should hear no difference.

The pedalpcb duo phase has 2 x 6 stage phasers that can be synced in series.

Thank you for posting this. All of my babies are grown now, but I have pet rats that I keep away from my soldering. Protect those pets too!

General Questions / Re: 2N4339 JFET substitute?

What is the jfet doing in the circuit? If it's just a buffer, you could likely sub any n channel jfet.

The couple of times I found myself in this situation, I gave them to kids in the neighborhood that showed interest. A couple went on to take it up, and soon upgraded to a better instrument, where the ones that didn't saved their parent a ton of cash in the trial.

Wow! I didn't know this existed. I'm going to build one now. Thank you for posting. Great demo!

General Questions / Re: And now a fuzz into a 1590A

The SRS EQ exciter is a HUGE fuzz in a tiny form factor. The EQ knob has a super wide synth-like range. It's probably my favorite fuzz.

A multi wave six stage ota phaser with negative feedback?!?!
I think you are right Jimi. I kinda want to build one of these.
