I would like to build a switch that will engage switch between the gain and clean channels of two separate amps at the same time.  Will this work?

Not 100% sure what you mean, Murdog... is it an A-B pedal you want?

Well not being familiar with amp channel switches, I can't really comment, other than a suggestion might be to use different poles of the same switch for each amp respectively... someone else might wish to chime in

Yeah, better to use two different poles. Use a 3PDT switch and you can add an led.

Not looking to switch between amps. Having two amps on at the same time i want to be able to simultaneously switch between clean and gain. Stomp once both clean. Stomp again both gain.

Sounds like what you need to do is make a new channel switcher with 2 outputs, one going to each amp.

murdog47, have you verified that your amp uses a simple connection like this for the switch?

In any case, assuming that it does, you cannot use the same common for two different amps. The switch is a shunt: basically, you're connecting circuits parts inside:

Clean ______ \______ Dirty Amp 1
Clean ______ \______ Dirty Amp 2

Using the same pole for both would connect both amps together, resulting in something like this:

Clean ______              ? Amp 1
                  |______ [Explosion and/or mutant]
Clean ______|             ? Amp 2

In other words, use two poles.
