Deadringer 2 de-bug
Hi, Im having a problem with this build for some reason. There seems to be a problem with the boost section as the boost footswitch does nothing when on, bypass signal when off. No led either. The overdrive section is working fine and all pots and mini-switches [except for 'cut'] are doing what they should.
The boost section 'cut' switch does nothing, as there is no signal with the boost engaged. I Swapped the boost 3pdt and that wasn't the problem. Any ideas on where I could start looking? I'll post a gut shot so maybe somebody will catch something that I'm missing. The 3rd footswitch will be a comp if I ever get this up and running!
So in summary
1] no signal with boost engaged
2] no led from boost 3pdt
3] no cut switch

Hey guys, I'm sure this is obvious but not to me  :-\ I'm working on the Deadringer V2 and would like to combine it in one box with a compressor circuit. But the way the jacks are wired to the board I'm not sure how its done. I've done several 2-in-ones the old way of just linking the switches but I'm not sure how to pull it off with this diagram.http://www.madbeanpedals.com/projects/Deadringer2/Deadringer2.pdf

Tech Help - Projects Page / Kraken transistors
August 20, 2013, 07:25:31 AM
Hi, my Kraken isnt filtering but I can hear sweep in all potentiometers when rotated manually.
The only sub I made was using all 2N5088 transistors instead of the one 2N5087.
Any problem with this or should I trouble-shoot elsewhere?

Well, I've had my Nautilus on the board for about 8 months and it rules! What a great filter! I have one issue that I've learned to live with but would be most awesome to resolve!
When I initially turn it on theres about a 3 or 4 second period where it seems to be charging up and doesnt envelope then it works fine and sounds great. Its only when Its turned on after being off a couple of minutes. It seems as if the charge pump takes a few seconds to get juiced up?Is this a common occurance?
I've tried a few  different charge pumps and they all perform well, but dont address the lag at start up.
Anyone else experience this or have any advice on a possible remedy?
Thanks!   BK

Ok, I've never had a problem with ANY Madbean pcb build, until now  :'(
My double flush is not passing signal when on,only when off. Both the led/ldr and status led are working and the depth pot is effecting the brightness while the speed pot is effecting the rate of the leds. The footswitch diagram is wired per the layout doc and the in/out jacks are wired correctly. Before I post pics and or readings, could somebody explain the 3pdt wiring on this one? Theres the normal board in/out and input/out put jack connections but what is the 'sw' connection? [Its wired up using the diagram on page 4 of the build doc]

http://www.madbeanpedals.com/projects/DoubleFlush/docs/DoubleFlush.pdf

I've got no solder bridges and the pots are solidly connected. I did sub a 741 ic for the 351 and a tl072 for the tl062 but these should not be related to it passing zero signal when on.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

General Questions / EGGHEAD bass trim pot?
January 03, 2013, 11:10:38 PM
Hi, just put my EGGHEAD in a 3in1 pedal sandwiched between a RUNT and FATPANTS and I'm loving it [Thanks Mr. Bean for the EGGHEAD!]
I have one question, the 'Barber' version of this circuit has a bass trim pot and I feel that would be a usefull addition. Which resistor would target this so I could swap it out with a trimmer?

By the way, I'm running my RUNT at 18v from the FATPANTS and its the best sounding RAT I've owned!  8)

I'm in the process of sourcing parts and cant find a VTL5C3 locally [Czech Republic]
Will a VTL5C1,VTL5C2 or VTL5C4 work  ???

Build Reports / Afterlife comp / Kingslayer
October 04, 2012, 10:20:36 AM
All I can say is these two were meant to go together! The Kingslayer loves being goosed by the Afterlife comp, which is probably the best sounding comp I've owned.Side by side with my old favorite Maxon CP-101 the Afterlife just sounds better, perfect for clean, stratty boosting and percussive clean playing.
Thanks for these great sounding projects, your PCB's are top notch too!

Build Reports / One knob optical compressor / Fatpants !!!
September 24, 2012, 08:05:03 PM
Well, I've owned dozens of compressors over the years, mostly ROSS,Dyna Comp or squeezer based. The only optical comp I've owned was an old DOD 280 and it was ok. But the FATPANTS is really exactly what I've wanted in a compressor.Really brings out everything I love about my strat.I'd say this is a must have for clean rythem players like myself. Also very quiet hitting my overdrive/distortion pedals. I built mine with one volume knob,[trim pot for compression] and a switch that toggles between the recommended 47k and a 100k for more exagerated squish.
Couldnt be happier!

Hi folks, I'm installing my kingslayer in a 3in1 enclosure between a fatpants and Dyna red circuit. The other two will be true bypass. Can I still wire the Kingslayer in buffered mode when connected to 2 other true bypass circuits/switches in the same box?
Thanks in advance for any insight on this!
