Hey guys,

I want to use a looping app on my iPad with my pedalboard running through a USB interface. I have a CCK that will let me connect my interface to my iPad via USB, but I need to run a powered USB hub between the two to power the interface.

My idea is to skip the powered USB hub and hack together a splitter cable that sends data from the interface to the iPad, but takes 5V power from my power supply (after the 9V is regulated to 5V) and sends it to both the interface and the iPad, powering the interface and keeping the iPad charged at the same time.

Can I just splice this together or are there any dangers in sending 5V this way to my iPad and interface from my pedalboard's power supply?

I want to use multiple relays so I can use a momentary switch to control switching between Gain and Vol pots in a drive pedal, as sort of a 2nd channel switch with an LED indicator

Can I just use a voltage regulator to send 5V to one side of the coils on the relays and use a single momentary stomp to send the other ends to ground?

Open Discussion / Line 6 M9 PCBs on ebay?!?!?!

Looking for a used M9 on ebay and stumbled upon these:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Line-6-50-02-0294-Main-PCB-for-M9-/291416575132?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item43d9c80c9c

Does anyone have an M9 or gut pics to know if I could literally build an M9 with these boards and some footswitches and LEDs?

I want to split my humbuckers on my Tele. It's dual HB with one volume and tone for the entire guitar. Any one have a diagram for this?

So my Timmy clone picks up a radio station as the gain knob turns up. This is with the lid on. Without the lid, the radio station isn't picked up as strongly, but makes a hum whenever an audio signal is passed through the circuit (hum when strumming, no hum when muting guitar).

Here's a gut shot.

The layout is from tagboard and I've built it verbatim.

Help please :(

This schematic calls for a 47kB Wet Level pot. I'm doubling the circuit to make it stereo and the 9mm dual gang pot I want to use only come in 100kB. How important is the value of this pot?

Open Discussion / My first adventure with eagle
May 14, 2015, 09:15:17 AM
Thanks to JMK's tutorials, I Finley got started working on Eagle with MB's library. I actually haven't done a lot of pcb designing before. I'm having so much fun!

This is a stereo version of Fred Brigg's mixer that he used for a Behringer rehouse, with board mounted neutrik jacks on the back side of the board.

Am I crazy?

Had some builds with no labels, and a friend is going to try out my board tomorrow, so I thought it'd be helpful to label the knobs and add some quick pictures while I was at it.

On a given delay circuit using either PT2399 or BBD chips, would all builds have the same max delay time with the Time knob turned all the way up? If not, how big are the differences between chips?

(Day dreaming of ways to control delay time by replacing the delay pot with arduino...)

Just stumbled upon this mega pedal marketed as a dual delay + reverb. Noticed that the delay looks identical to Josh's Echoplex with modulation. And also a 1-knob Belton reverb! Hm...

Unless I missed somewhere in the fine print that Josh has authorized this...

Look what I just found!

Instantly thought of you guys, so I'm just gonna leave this here:

[Posted this over at FSB before the forum was back online, but I like this place much better!]

Looking to hack a Behringer EM600's Tap Tempo mode. Stock, you have to hold the footswitch down for 2 seconds to enter tap tempo mode.

Here's what I'm after:
How can I make the momentary switch automatically connect for 2 seconds every time power is supplied to the pedal and then automatically release after the 2 seconds, leaving the pedal in tap tempo mode every time power is applied to the pedal? What sort of options do I have?

I am rehousing this delay with a mixer circuit, therefore the onboard momentary switch will no longer be needed for the bypass function, as the delay will always be on running at 100% wet.

Hi folks. I know this isn't the right forum, but you guys are my only (electrically-inclined) friends...

I want to run a motor off of my USB charger that outputs 5V at 2.1A, and I want to make it turn really slowly.

Why? I found an app that gives me points for watching videos, so I'm going to rig up a stylus on a motor to go up and down right over the spot where the "Next Video" button is, so I can rack up points when I'm not in my room. ;)

Us college kids need some spare cash... And a life...

Anyone have experience screen printing graphics on their pedals?

I'm looking for a relatively easy and cheap way to learn how to screenprint single color designs on painted enclosures.

I'm working on a multi-fx schematic that is two full circuits in series. Is the pull-down resistor necessary for the second effect if the output of the first one is going straight to its input?

Hey all!

I'm putting together a circuit that combines two Rub-a-Dub Deluxe's together with an FX loop in between.

The individual circuits each have a power section connecting to the dual opamp and such. In my combined circuit, do I need to double the power section, one for each reverb?

Hey folks,

I have a 40w Weller Soldering iron that just stopped heating up. The LEDs come on, but the iron won't heat up anymore.

Any suggestions for a descent soldering iron? I'm a college student and do a fair amount of builds for myself. I think I could justify spending up to $40, though I'd prefer not to.

I really want a nice cheap semi hollow thinline tele with humbuckers to work on, and stumbled upon this:

Anyone have experiences with unbranded guitar kits or with Aliexpress?

I also found one with a gold tremolo and black pickguard that I like WAY more, but they ship from Australia...

I went over to Mammoth to order a couple of diodes that I left out of my previous order and didn't want to pay so much shipping just for diodes, so I added in some parts for two low-parts count pedals and a timmy clone. Next thing I know, my cart is over $70. Oh, the struggle...

I'm currently at a small private school, and I realized that when I moved in, I brought in a bunch of tools (soldering iron, drills, and dremels) that I'm not supposed to have. To make it worse, my roommate is an RA. I really want to build my pedals, but don't want to get into any trouble with my possessions.

My school doesn't have any sort of electronics program, so there's not really a room on campus where I could do this stuff.

Does anyone have experience in finding a place to do electronics work in a place where these tools aren't allowed for safety reason?
