General Questions / Re: VFE Ice Scream Question

That one's based on the SUPER Tube Screamers, with the always on mids boost.

What do the switches do? One is an EQ.

I doubled up on the germanium, but then it sounded just like the silicon pair side.  Maybe some difference appears at an extreme setting with the voltage starved?

That's beautiful build and art, as always.  I built the original version with the internal switch, but made it external as it's such an important control.

It's a basic spring type reverb but adding the delay, especially in series, gives you new sounds. My favorite is turning the delay mix down so you don't hear it. but it affects the reverb letting you add pre-delay and long decay to the previously limited spring.   The delay and reverb can also be parallel.

Any noise or distortion with the PT2399? Some PT2399 projects add an LED to tame ugly clipping and I've been experimenting with that.

Another Vfe Preamp builder!   The clipping pot on this one does a lot. In the middle, where it's mostly bypassed lets it shine as a distortion.
And yeah I have one of the neon orange ones and it's extreme, more so than their green and pink even.

I also got a board from swirl effects way back. This is one of the few fuzzes I've built  that made me think "This is too much fuzz!"  It's extreme, yet the mods also give you more control over the clean mix.

I used a larger enclosure, so I was able to get away with a cheaper transformer that you'd normally use on a Brassmaster.

I also built a Dizzytone with a GT404 and it sounds extremely fuzzy and mean.
Though I also used germanium for Q1 and Q2, many say you can use silicon there and get a similar sound.  I added a volume control to mine because adjusting " balance" changed the tone too much.

One of my favorite Screamer pedals. It's so loud!  I like that you can clean things up and flatten that mid hump some too.

Does anyone have information on these mods?
I know there is a cap substitution for the regular Phase 90 to get more of a Uni-Vibe
sound and wonder what else may have been done.

"2013-2015 - I built several pedals with different voicings in the phase stages. The "Enterprise Water" or "Aqua Beam" had a smoother phase sweep, but less bottom end.  The "Enterprise Vibe" or "Mojo Beam" had non-uniform phase stages for those who wanted a juicy, chorusy Univibe-esque tone."

So far I've only used regular stomp switches for all of mine. It's easier with some of the fuzzes that don't use the  charge pump. You can  find the in/out and power connections on the boards and use a regular switch if your enclosure is large enough, and you can  keep the boards in place.

I just opened up my real FZ-2 and it's the only Boss pedal I've seen so far with shielded input wire from jack to PCB.

Then scroll down to "CLICK HERE to download the DIY documentation"
then "Live Series > Other Pedals"

It's a modded Rat, and if it's like the Alpha Dog, it should sound great.

Along with the parts labeled as need to go on the back of the board, I had to put the 2n7 back there too to fit the brick.

Good you got it working.  I'd like to recommend Madbean's own Stutr to the list for others to try.  I got it not knowing much about it but does all I need.

G.G., any build tips? I was revisiting them and I cant get rid of the oscillating squeal from the Bone Bender 1 unless I raise the filter caps so high that it sounds muddy.   Did you encounter anything like this? What gains did you use?  I built the one with a J113 in Q1.

For the Sparkle Face,  upgrading to high gain 2n1306's over the previous MP38A's I used was worth it.
