Anyone know any good projects for them low hfe germaniums?

How low are we talking?

Assuming the leakage is low enough, Darlingtons are the most obvious usage.

If it's just low like 50 or something, they'll work fine in a bunch of things even if you may need to rebias them.

If theyre the cheap disposable russian transistors then I woulda suggested some experimentation with Mictesters Secret Sauce. Ive breadboarded it a few times and love the clipping that the transistors give.

As midwayfair points out Darlingtons are a way of using them - leakage dependent, either just in place of a normal transistors or in something like purpose built like the Germocide/Germageddon fuzzes.
