General Questions / Re: Harbinger 1.5 - no modulation

Nice! I missed out on the real deals b/c I never really thought I would have the balls to undertake the harbinger 2. One other thought, is the lamp changing when you turn the intensity pot? If it doesn't might mean you're getting modulation just that the I testify is so low that you're not hearing. If it does, then it's probably still in the phasing section.

I would start probing the transistors (Q4-Q10) through the phasing section specifically the emitters of the odd numbered ones. You can also verify at the base of the even numbered ones. I just probed my recently completed harbinger 2 to verify my thoughts based on the schematic. Interestingly, a few of the pairs I probed gave less of a distinct modulated signal and am wondering if that correlates to the LDR they are matched with since my LDRs were not EXACT matches.

General Questions / Re: Harbinger 2 R52

For the sake of posterity, I subbed in a 10k for the 27k which significantly increased my max rate. Could maybe have gone even lower, but am satisfied for now.

Thanks Jimi. I think I still have a PPCB trimmit I could throw in there. Turn it down until the lfo locks with treadle at max and then back it off.

General Questions / Harbinger 2 R52
August 30, 2023, 01:20:59 PM
Needed more speed out of my harbinger 2 build. After some F-ing about looks like if I lower the value of R52 I can attain the speeds I needs. Does lowering R52 introduce any circuit instability? Thinking 10-13k which brings the light resistance down to 1.9-4.8k without locking the lfo. Could I go lower if needed?

Good suggestion. I will try that.

I do have a non working build at the moment. Just trying to do my due diligence before posting up a troubleshooting thread. First time for Vero, but have used protoboard before w/o issue. Also first time programming an MCU. Guess I'm less worried ab the circuit build itself and more worried that my upload process is wrong.

Ah, thanks so much. Have you built one/verified the Vero?

Looking for a little help from someone who has successfully built one of these. Alternately, does anyone have a schematic perhaps?

Can the road rage project supply +/- 9v supply simultaneously (for suppling Vcc and Vee)?

If you text the photos you want to use to yourself and then save them from your messages they should be compressed enough to upload here.

Thanks for the tip Peccary. I do my best to stay out of the troubleshooting threads, but if the need arises, now I know.

Glad I could help.  I troubleshot till I was blue in the face and then had a look at the schematic and had that "aha" moment.  I think maybe you and I are the only ones that built this without the mods :-)

Ha. I have done my fair share of pedal modding so if I decide I need more, the option is always there. I am enjoying as is for the moment.

On mine, the only way I could get modulation to work was to jumper the rate pot pads.

That did the trick, glorious modulation ensues! Thanks Gordo.

Thanks for the info. And that was using the switch and not the rate pot?
Edit: nevermind, that was a dumb question
