well, i never liked the doctors, in fact when i get sick i just wait till it goes away, never take drugs to get well,(i hate medicine), so i have only been twice in a hospital, first like 7 years agoi a car accident, i was like crazy and have to spend two days in the hospital for observations, was a really crappy experience.

now since two days ago i was felling bad at my stomach, i thought i was gastritis, or something, but today afternoon became on fever, and vomiting, i had to go to the hospital again, to have the really bad news that i had appendicitis, so i had to face the most horrible think i could imagine, get a surgery, its been almost 6 hours since the surgery, i feel so drugged, and i cant stand to go to the bath, they told me i was about to die, cos its was already infecting me, it was turning into peritonitis, i have to go to sleep, but im still so scared about the surgery, i have a big cut below my bellybottom, about 5 inches long, i probably be bothering over here in this days(have to stay for 2 days before i go home) i have my cellphone with me and thats alli can do, laying on bed, i cant even smile hard, or talk to hard, cos it hurts like hell

That sucks man. I feel you on not being a fan of taking medicine. Its a very rare occasion that I take an advil or tylenol that most people take at the slightest hint of pain. I'm also not a big fan of needles. When I was 13 or 14 this huge wood cutout fell on my hand and split my pinkie open and it took 4 people to hold me down so they could put the numbing agent in the wound before they stitched it. Anyway feel better man.

Hey dude hope you get better soon! Glad they caught everything in time. Kinda cool that you thought about the madbean forums after such a stressful time

copachino....I've been there. Things will get better. If the appendix burst, you will need several days of IV antibiotics. Don't be afraid to hit that call button for pain meds. Abdominal surgery hurts like hell. I hope you have a speedy recovery. It takes time... You'll get there.

OK... Cesar, I hope you don't take what I'm about to say in any other way than as a total support in your hour of need. I was just gonna write "awww shucks, get better soon" but I'm just not wired that way.

It's great when people aren't sick. It's great when you don't need a doctor, being young or old. And I do understand the gung-ho attitude of "I don't need no stinkin' pills!" because I was one of the tough guys as well. Wouldn't take a pill if you put a gun to my head. Most of the western world has indeed become a playground for pharmaceutical companies with a "better living through chemistry" mantra for pill-popping med-happy population.
But there comes a time where toughness just takes a teeny tiny step and becomes stupidity. However careless it may sound, it's great that a 5inch incision and the beginning of a peritonitis is the worst thing you ever went through and that an hour's worth of surgery in a licenced hospital in USA is the most horrible thing you could imagine. Count your blessings, man. A month from now it's gonna be all good and you'll be left with a scar to remind you how fragile life really is, with no lasting ill-effects.
I'm not on this soapbox here to call you a wuss or anything of the sorts. Take it from someone who's smallest scar is 5in long and I have more hospital induced scars than you have fingers on your hands (especially if you work in a lumberyard  ;D ). I've been within inches of my life more times than I care to count. I have several illness-induced conditions that I wouldn't want on anybody, ever. And I'm here, able to tell you this, precisely because I didn't wait to start vomiting blood before I went to see a doctor. Had I stuck to my "needles be damned" attitude I'd be dead several times over by now. My ordeals have in no way turned me into a hypochondriac that pops seven pills at the first sign of a headache but they have thankfully made me appreciate the availability of medical care and how short and fragile life is. Whenever I don't feel quite right (and you learn to differentiate indigestion/headache/musclepull from other more serious stuff pretty quickly) I go and see a doc about it and thank my lucky stars if it's only a 5in scar and a week in hospital before I'm back on my feet.
Health is a curious thing. People take it for granted and go about chasing money/career/whatnot thinking health is forever. Only on occasion, it's not. A rug gets pulled from under you and you're on your ass not knowing what hit ya. As you've witnessed yourself, it only takes an inflammation of a tiny piece of (useless) intestine and some blood poisoning to have you in hospital, scared shitless. From what I've unfortunately been through, it's like having a stubborn papercut.
Again, this is in no way a stab at you nor am I trying to make myself into a sobcase (because I'm not, there are many many people that were even worse off). It's in fact completely the opposite, I'm telling you not to be scared and frightened because you got off easy, with a minor procedure to remind you to live your life the best you can, for however much you have left. Noone on their sickbed (and especially deathbed, if sickness induced) ever wished for more money in life. Whenever real pain hits, one would give all the money in the world for one pain free day or a day more out of life, it's never the other way around. I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers and I do hope you bounce back as soon as possible to solder a million pedals. I also hope you'll get a new perspective on life through this and not be so stubborn to see a doc the next time something goes wrong because next time it may not be just your appendix (which it surely won't be because they removed it now  ;D ) and every second will count. I've lost too many friends that were too butch to ask for help, trying to tough it out, only to find out that much of what was wrong was fixable if diagnosed early enough (and there were signs early enough).

There's no pride in sickness and especially not in death (and unfortunately I've seen both happen too many times for my liking). There's no high horse here or anything to be gained by being stubborn. Take care of yourself because you're the only one who can. Get better and get smart about it. Just sayin', fwiw...

Snipped for length, not content, cause that was awesome!!!

I was going to say something like 'count your blessings, there are so many people out there who have it way, way, WAY worse. But you beat me to it.

I have sarcoïdosis myself. I was diagnosed with it last year, after I started to lose weight and got a nasty eye infection. That's what it does, from time to time it will cause infections in parts of my body, most likely the eyes and the lungs. In order to do a proper diagnosis they prodded and tested me for months. Shoved tubes down my mouth and I completely lost my fear of needles. I can never be cured from it, all they can do is treat its symptoms whenever it becomes active again. But I'm not complaining. There are so many people out there who have it way, way, WAY worse then me (like ebola?). I can grow old with my disease and I've not suffered any permanent damage so far. And on the plus side, I've lost 30 kilos that hasn't returned, 30 kilos that I sure as hell won't miss.

That is not to say that I have no sympathy for the OP, because appendicitis is no laughing matter, and I would guess, a very rude wakening call in as far as becoming health conscious. And as long as we are healthy we ALL take it for granted. So have a virtual hug, dude, and hopefully from now on you'll come to understand that doctors and nurses are your friends, not to be feared. And that while a lot of bad things happen in hospitals, a lot of good things also happen there.

Seriously the guy is in pain and probably as high as a kite when he posted.  There are always people worse off in the world but "my shit is my shit" so give him a break

All the best dude .get well soon

Get well soon! I had an appendectomy when I was 21. The recovery is pretty quick...you should be up and about within a couple of days. Good news is that scar will heal up nicely...mine is barely noticeable 20 yrs on. I remember walking around campus from class to class hopped up on pain meds. Kind of a funny memory to take away.

so give him a break

I think I mentioned on two separate occasions in my post that I'm in no way trying to bust his balls or belittle the discomfort he's in.
Quite the contrary, I'm trying to help him see the undeniable silver lining that one usually overlooks when all one sees are white coats and needles.

Hang in there buddy. I hope you feel better soon.
